Plot Summary

In a day that would change everything, Harley, a wide-eyed fan of The Banana Splits, celebrates his birthday with family at the iconic Taft Studios. As they arrive on set, Harley’s excitement knows no bounds as he waves enthusiastically at the beloved characters - Fleegle, Bingo, Drooper, and Snorky - who are revving up their Banana Buggies. Little does he know, the festivities are about to take a dark turn. Unbeknownst to the audience, Andy, Vice President of Programming, is secretly informing producer Rebecca that the show’s curtains will soon be closing for good.

As the live taping wraps up, the characters - actually advanced robots - learn about their impending cancellation from Stevie and react with devastating consequences. The mayhem begins when Drooper brutally dispatches a lollipop prop into Stevie’s throat, setting off a chain reaction of violence throughout the studio. Meanwhile, outside the chaos, Beth discovers Mitch’s infidelity, which he attributes to being overshadowed by his family. As tensions simmer, Snorky chases and runs over Mitch in the Banana Buggie.

In the midst of madness, love blossoms on the Fleegle’s Magic Shop set as Thadd and Poppy exchange sweet nothings before Fleegle shatters their happiness with a gruesome sawing-in-half. Just as he attempts to do the same to Poppy, he’s interrupted by Harley and his friend Zoe in hot pursuit of Snorky. Fleegle traps them along with Parker in a backroom lair, where the robots’ sinister intentions are revealed.

As the body count rises, Beth, Austin, Rebecca, and show host Paige stumble upon the carnage when Jonathan, Parker’s father, comes stumbling in - his face brutally scarred by Drooper’s flames. Horrified, they join forces to track down Harley and Zoe while Rebecca tends to Jonathan’s wounds. Meanwhile, Poppy joins the search party after encountering Beth and Austin.

In a desperate bid for freedom, Harley, Zoe, and Parker meet Karl, the creator of the Banana Splits, and plead with him to set them free. Just as he hesitates, Drooper drags in injured Bingo, diverting Karl’s attention long enough for the kids to escape their cell and leave Karl trapped behind bars, leaving them to face the chaos head-on.

As Rebecca and Jonathan find themselves in the clutches of Fleegle and Drooper, they are whisked away to the infamous “Sloppy Time Course” stage, where a twisted game of survival awaits. Forced to complete a grueling obstacle course, they’re left battered and bruised when Fleegle strikes Jonathan with a key and Drooper bludgeons Rebecca’s skull with a hammer. Amidst their desperation to escape, Harley, Zoe, and Parker stumble upon Snorky, who agrees to join forces with them in their quest for freedom.

Meanwhile, Beth, Austin, and Poppy discover Paige, who reveals that her attempts to call for help were foiled by the malfunctioning phones and smashed cellphones. Undeterred, they head to the mysterious Back Room, seeking guidance from Karl on how to vanquish the Banana Splits. Although he provides no tangible assistance, the trio’s ears perk up at the sound of music emanating from a hidden hatch. With trepidation, they venture into the unknown, only to stumble upon a gruesome spectacle: Fleegle and Drooper reveling in their twisted entertainment, with Stevie’s lifeless corpse ablaze and Andy’s limbs brutally dismembered.

As Harley, Zoe, Parker, and Snorky join the captives, Snorky surreptitiously hands Harley the keys to the shackles binding the children. With a burst of liberation, the kids make a break for freedom, while Beth attempts to take down Drooper and Fleegle but finds herself overwhelmed. It takes Austin and Harley’s timely intervention to vanquish their tormentors.

As the survivors reunite with Paige and Zoe, they’re confronted by Bingo, who taunts them with the ominous warning: “Time’s almost up.” However, just as all hope seems lost, Snorky reappears, engaging in a fierce battle with the ruthless Bingo. Despite being outmatched, Snorky manages to crush and crack Bingo’s skull, buying his friends precious time before succumbing to his mortal wounds. Harley cradles Snorky’s lifeless body, reassuring him that he will always be his favorite, as the Banana Splits’ reign of terror nears its end.

As the dust settles, the police arrive to survey the aftermath of chaos, while Austin and Paige’s chance encounter blossoms into a romantic connection that neither could have predicted. Meanwhile, Mitch, still reeling from his harrowing experience with Snorky, faces the bitter consequences of his failed marriage to Beth, who has finally found the courage to move on. As the authorities depart, leaving behind only memories of their earlier turmoil, Mitch is left to confront his own mortality once more - this time, in a cruel twist of fate, he meets a gruesome end at the hands of Poppy, now driving the resurrected Banana Buggie with the remnants of the Banana Splits proudly displayed on its rear. Just as all hope seems lost, Fleegle’s mechanical heart beats back to life, accompanied by a maniacal laugh that sends shivers down the spine, signaling the return of Snorky’s malevolent force, forever altering the trajectory of events.
