In the vibrant heart of Kansas, young Dorothy Gale lives with her Uncle Henry and Aunt Em on a quaint farm. However, her tranquil life is disrupted when Almira Gulch, fueled by her resentment towards Dorothy’s loyal dog, Toto, obtains a sheriff’s order to take the beloved pet away. In a desperate attempt to protect her friend, Dorothy flees, returning home just as a fierce tornado is about to strike. Unbeknownst to her, Professor Marvel, a charming fortune-teller, observes her plight and persuades her to seek comfort at her family’s farm. Unfortunately, Aunt Em is frantically worried about Dorothy’s safety. Ignoring the ominous storm brewing outside, Dorothy takes refuge in their home, but a violent gust of wind from the tornado upends everything, sending her and the house soaring into uncharted territory.

When Dorothy finally awakens, she discovers she has been transported to the magical land of Munchkinland. Here, she is greeted by Glinda, the Good Witch, who emerges from a sparkling bubble to reveal the extraordinary changes in this new world. Dorothy learns that her house has landed on the Wicked Witch of the East, freeing the Munchkins from her tyrannical rule. However, the arrival of the Wicked Witch of the West casts a shadow over their victory, reminding everyone of the lingering threat. Glinda gifts Dorothy a pair of magical ruby slippers, urging her to wear them at all times and warning her that the Wicked Witch vows to seek revenge on both Dorothy and Toto. With her new destiny clear, Dorothy is directed to follow the yellow brick road towards the Emerald City, where it is said the legendary Wizard of Oz can help her return home.

As her journey progresses, Dorothy encounters three fellow travelers: the Scarecrow, longing for a brain; the Tin Man, in search of a heart; and the Cowardly Lion, who craves courage. Together, they navigate a perilous landscape while battling the evil intentions of the Wicked Witch. Upon their arrival at the Emerald City, the group faces initial rejection by the Wizard’s guards. However, Dorothy’s heartfelt display of sorrow ultimately earns them entry into the Wizard’s chamber, where they confront a formidable apparition that reveals itself as the Wizard, a colossal head that looms over them. He promises to fulfill their wishes but only if they can bring him the Wicked Witch’s broomstick as proof of her defeat.

Dorothy’s adventure leads to a series of thrilling encounters, including a shocking abduction of her and Toto by the Wicked Witch’s minions, the flying monkeys. Thanks to the protective magic of the ruby slippers, she and Toto manage a daring escape, reuniting with the Scarecrow, Tin Man, and Cowardly Lion for a courageous rescue mission. Their attempt brings them face-to-face with the Wicked Witch, whose fury ignites a chaotic showdown where Dorothy’s cleverness ultimately allows her to vanquish her enemy, transforming the Wicked Witch into a mere puddle of nothingness.

Triumphant, the group returns to confront the Wizard once more, but are told to come back the next day. Meanwhile, Toto’s curiosity uncovers the true nature of the Wizard: he is nothing more than a fraudulent showman, an ordinary man who creates illusions to hide his lack of magical prowess. He explains that while he is a fake, he has goodwill in his heart and rewards each with tokens that symbolize their true inner strengths.

In a surprising twist, the Wizard reveals a shared origin with Dorothy; both are from Kansas, and he came to Oz by accident while flying a hot air balloon. He offers to take her home, but as they prepare to leave, Toto makes a sudden dash, causing the Wizard’s balloon to ascend without them. In this moment, Glinda reappears, guiding Dorothy and revealing that she had the ability to return to Kansas all along—but she had to discover this truth for herself.

As she prepares to say goodbye to her friends, Dorothy follows Glinda’s advice, taps her heels three times, and exclaims, > “There’s no place like home.” With a sense of fulfillment, Dorothy is whisked back to the familiar fields of Kansas, awakening in her own bed. Aunt Em tends to her lovingly while Uncle Henry and the farmhands look on, and Professor Marvel stops by to listen to Dorothy’s incredible story of Oz, as everyone shares a knowing smile over the fantastical journey she experienced. Embracing Toto tightly, Dorothy sincerely declares, > “Oh, Auntie Em, there’s no place like home!”
