Plot Summary

In the heart of Delhi, Rohan “Mickey” Arora (Ranbir Kapoor) - a scion of the affluent Punjabi business magnate Ramesh Arora (Boney Kapoor) - resides with his tight-knit family comprising his mother Renu (Dimple Kapadia), sister Minny (Hasleen Kaur), and brother-in-law Ashish (Amber Rana). Niece Sweetu (Inayat Verma) and Grandmother (Jatinder Kaur) also occupy a special place in this harmonious household. When he’s not indulging in his passion for break-up consulting alongside best friend Manu Dabbas (Anubhav Singh Bassi), Mickey can be found navigating the complexities of life with his family.

The duo, renowned for their expertise in orchestrating amicable break-ups, travel to Spain for Manu’s bachelor party, accompanied by his fiancée Kinchi (Monica Chaudhary) and her best friend Nisha “Tinni” Malhotra (Shraddha Kapoor). As the celebrations unfold, Manu finds himself suffocated by his relationship with Kinchi, yet struggles to express his true feelings. In a moment of desperation, he entrusts Mickey with the task of helping him break free from his commitment-phobic partner - an endeavor that will set off a chain reaction of events.

Mickey’s gaze falls upon Tinni at first sight, and in a sudden turn of events, he abandons his mission to help Manu and Kinchi part ways. Instead, he finds himself hopelessly smitten with Tinni, surrendering to the pangs of love. As Mickey and Tinni grow closer, their relationship becomes an open secret, much to the dismay of those around them.

Upon returning from Spain, Manu and Kinchi proceed with their nuptials, while Mickey takes steps to introduce Tinni to his family. The Malhotras, upon learning about Tinni’s involvement with Mickey, are initially taken aback but ultimately accept their daughter’s relationship. As the wedding preparations begin in earnest, Mickey’s family becomes increasingly involved, much to Tinni’s dismay.

Tinni struggles to maintain a sense of independence as Mickey’s family takes over the wedding planning process, suggesting that she relinquish her professional pursuits. As the couple navigates the intricacies of their relationship and the expectations of those around them, it remains to be seen whether they can find common ground amidst the chaos.

As Tinni’s doubts about the union intensify, she makes the difficult decision to sever ties with Mickey, initiating a divorce that will leave no emotional scars. In an effort to distance herself from the impending heartache, she seeks guidance from a break-up expert on the phone, oblivious to the fact that the voice on the other end is none other than her soon-to-be ex-husband. With the goal of a painless separation in mind, Tinni requests Mickey’s assistance in orchestrating a mutually agreeable breakup.

Mickey, still reeling from the news, plays along, suggesting a novel approach to determining the fate of their relationship: the alignment of their astrological signs. However, fate has other plans, and the celestial bodies conspire against them, rendering their plan futile. It isn’t until Mickey discovers his true identity as Tinni’s break-up guru that he’s struck by the realization that she didn’t bother to discuss her concerns with him or explore ways to overcome their differences.

Mickey, now fueled by a desire for retribution, decides to outmaneuver Tinni at her own game. He proposes a “jealousy test,” designed to push her into making the first move in ending their relationship. In response, Tinni hires Rahul (Karthik Aaryan), an actor posing as an old friend, and together they perform a sultry dance routine meant to unsettle Mickey’s emotions. But Mickey proves impervious, maintaining his composure despite the provocative display.

Undeterred, Mickey concocts another plan, this time recommending a “loyalty test” aimed at exposing any potential infidelity. Tinni seizes upon this idea and hires Anya (Nushrratt Bharuccha) to seduce Mickey, hoping that if he gives in to his desires, she can use the evidence to justify their breakup. Yet again, Mickey defies expectations, steadfastly refusing to compromise his values.

In a stunning role reversal, Mickey dons the persona of the break-up consultant once more, this time asking Tinni to reveal the true reason behind her decision to end their relationship. With the truth finally out in the open, Tinni confesses that her primary concern is avoiding the intrusion of Mickey’s family into their lives after marriage and instead wishes to maintain a sense of independence and personal space. As she looks to escape the inevitable emotional fallout, Mickey is forced to confront the reality that his love for his family may soon become an insurmountable obstacle in their relationship.

As tensions mounted, Mickey’s resolve hardened against Tinni, prompting him to abandon their marriage plans altogether. He proposed a ruse to Tinni, suggesting that she had received a job offer in Bengaluru and would be relocating permanently after the wedding. Tinni fell in line with the plan, only for Mickey to erupt in anger when he discovered her deception, insisting that such a drastic decision should have been discussed beforehand. The marriage was abruptly dissolved, and they went their separate ways.

Months later, fate brought them together once more at Kinchi’s baby shower, where Tinni suffered an injury while dancing. As Mickey and his family tended to her needs with genuine concern, it dawned on Tinni the value of family unity. Meanwhile, Mickey’s niece Chhoti inadvertently spilled a secret phrase that had previously passed Mickey’s lips, revealing the truth about the breakup consultant being none other than Mickey himself. Confronting him, Tinni expressed disappointment and hurt, stating that even after discovering his scheme, he didn’t make an effort to rectify the situation. Mickey countered, insisting that his family’s enthusiasm for Tinni’s presence in their lives was genuine, and that they were merely sharing Mickey with her.

Tinni revealed her plans to permanently relocate to London, prompting Mickey’s family to advise him not to let her go by compromising his love for them. Undeterred, Mickey, along with his entire family, made a concerted effort to stop Tinni at the airport just as she was about to depart. As they reached out to her, Tinni attempted to make Mickey uphold the oath he had previously sworn to her. In a stunning turn of events, Mickey proposed marriage once more, and this time, Tinni accepted. United in their love for each other, they embarked on a new journey together as a family.
