Dimple Kapadia (born 8 June 1957) is an Indian actress who has appeared predominantly in Hindi films. Born and raised in Mumbai by wealthy parents, her acting career started at age 14 when she was discovered by filmmaker Raj Kapoor. Her debut film, 'Bobby' (1973), gained her significant recognition. However, she quit acting after marrying actor Rajesh Khanna the same year. After their separation in 1982, she returned to acting with 'Saagar' (1984), which revived her career. Over the next decade, she established herself as one of the Hindi cinema's leading actresses with numerous critical and commercial successes. In mid-1990s, she became more selective about her roles and her appearances were fewer. In recent years, she took various challenging and expansive roles that received critical acclaim. Kapadia is known for her ability to play a variety of complex & realistic roles, and has made a distinct impression in both mainstream and parallel cinema.
