In the quaint town of Skoddeheimen, Norway, 15-year-old Alma is on a journey of sexual discovery. Secretly, she engages in calling hotlines for phone sex and indulges in fantasies about Artur, a fellow student from school. The situation escalates when, during a party one evening, Artur approaches her and exposes himself. This encounter excites Alma, prompting her to sneak away to take matters into her own hands. Excitedly, she shares the story with her friends, but they meet her claims with doubt, while Artur indirectly dismisses the event. The fallout from this leads to Alma being branded with the humiliating nickname “Dick Alma,” casting her into isolation and bullying.

When Alma’s mother discovers an exorbitant phone bill, she confronts her daughter about the charges. Alma unflinchingly admits to engaging in phone sex and attributes it to her hypersexuality. Determined to make amends, she vows to take responsibility and gets a part-time job at a convenience store. Unfortunately, her troubles continue as she is caught stealing a pornographic magazine, leading her mother to deem her behavior as abnormal. The relentless bullying at school drives Alma to consider running away, but her mother ultimately embraces her back home with open arms.

Faced with the harsh truths, Alma courageously confronts Artur, who acknowledges his actions during their earlier encounter but denies any real attraction to her. In an unexpected turn, he offers to make amends by acknowledging the truth in public, even expressing newfound romantic interest in her. The two share a dinner at Alma’s home, where she introduces Artur to her mother. However, after learning from a neighbor about the heartache Artur has caused her daughter, Alma’s mother stands firm, not allowing him to stay over. The film concludes ambiguously, leaving viewers anticipating what will happen next in their complicated tale of youth, desire, and parental protection.
