Who plays the character Vera in the film?

Plot Summary

Vera (Neve Campbell) embodies the essence of a modern-day seductress: a stunning, free-spirited young woman navigating the complexities of her sexual and intellectual liberation in the vibrant cityscape of New York. With an insatiable appetite for exploration, she indulges in anonymous trysts with strangers on the streets, as well as intimate encounters with a female lover captured on video tape. Her conversations with potential employers are equally candid, revealing a woman unapologetically embracing her desires.

As the pampered daughter of wealthy parents, Vera appears to be winging it through the early stages of adulthood, driven by an insatiable curiosity and a willingness to push boundaries. This carefree attitude is matched only by her boyfriend, Ford (Frederick Weller), a quick-witted hustler with no qualms about exploiting opportunities for financial gain. Ford’s awareness of Vera’s promiscuity provides the impetus for his next big scheme when he meets Count Tommaso (Dominic Chianese), an elderly Italian media mogul enamored with Vera’s unique blend of sensuality, intelligence, and perceived innocence.

Ford sees a golden opportunity to capitalize on Vera’s reputation by pitching her to the Count as a high-stakes plaything. The prospect of earning $100,000 is too enticing to resist, and remarkably, Vera agrees to Ford’s plan. As events unfold, it appears that everything is going according to script. However, both men grossly underestimate the cunning and ambition of Vera, who has been quietly orchestrating her own agenda from behind the scenes.

When Vera’s masterplan unfolds, the consequences are nothing short of stunning, leaving Ford and Count Tommaso reeling in the wake of their miscalculations.
