Alex, portrayed by Gael García Bernal, and Nica, played by Hani Furstenberg, are a loving couple engaged to be married. Their adventures take them to Georgia, a stunning country that was once part of the Soviet Union. Eager to explore its natural beauty, they hire a local guide, Bidzina Gujabidze, who leads them on a backpacking journey through the mesmerizing Caucasus Mountains.

During their excursion, they encounter an elderly man accompanied by two boys who expresses suspicion toward the foreigners. After a brief conversation with the guide, the older man suddenly aims his hunting rifle menacingly at Alex and Nica from point-blank range. In that tense moment, Alex instinctively places himself behind Nica for protection but quickly regains his courage, stepping in front of her to confront the threat. Their guide succeeds in coaxing the man to lower his weapon and leave, but the encounter has clearly shaken Nica, leading her to withdraw and distance herself from Alex.

As the journey unfolds, the rift between the couple grows more pronounced. Despite Alex’s repeated efforts to bridge the gap, there are moments when they silently walk apart. A particularly poignant scene occurs as they cross a stream; Nica slips but is saved by their guide. Although Alex tries to comfort her when she shivers, Nica pushes his help away. Later, while camping under the stars, the guide shares a heartfelt story about his failed marriage with Nica, which culminates in a kiss. This intimate moment leads Nica back to Alex, and they share a passionate reconciliation.

As dawn breaks, the trio begins to pack up their campsite, leaving the audience with a sense of uncertainty regarding the couple’s relationship. Have they truly found their way back to each other, or do the lingering shadows of their earlier conflict remain unresolved?
