Adding tension to this intricate web of relationships is Colonel Klaus, a formidable presence whose role escalates the stakes significantly.

As Yu Rim immerses himself in the shadowy world of espionage, he unwittingly becomes entangled in a conspiracy devised by the rightist South Korean general Sin Jae-sin who aims to destabilize the government. Lee Hong-sik is pivotal in helping Yu Rim transmit vital information back to North Korea using his unsuspecting friend, Kim Su-gyong, as a courier. However, their covert actions are dramatically thwarted when Lee Hong-sik is brutally murdered by CIC agents, including Kim Soon-hee, which hampers Yu Rim’s efforts to relay essential intelligence. In a frantic attempt to salvage the situation, Yu Rim tries to reconnect with Lee Hong-sik from a disreputable bar, only to discover that the person he speaks to is not his reliable ally. This unfortunate misstep has dire consequences, leading to the arrest and torture of a waitress who witnessed the phone call, under the ruthless interrogation of Colonel Klaus, who has deduced Yu Rim’s involvement.

The film deftly intertwines intrigue, deception, and betrayal, resulting in a cinematic experience that is as thought-provoking as it is intensely engaging. The plot thickens as Yu Rim takes refuge in a Hong Kong safe house run by a renowned North Korean singer. There, he receives orders to return to Seoul and contact an agent codenamed White Horse. However, his instincts prompt him to set a trap that reveals White Horse is, in fact, colluding with Colonel Klaus. This shocking discovery proves fatal for White Horse, who meets an untimely end at the hands of an unseen attacker.

In the meantime, Yu Rim’s reconnaissance yields critical intel from Janet O’Neill, suggesting that John Foster Dulles is poised to visit Europe to secure additional reinforcements. Capitalizing on this opportunity, Yu befriends Lewis, a steadfast army lieutenant, who ultimately converts to the Communist cause. Lewis then orchestrates his own abduction, enabling him to vanish into the North for training before resurfacing in Seoul.

As time passes, Yu Rim receives a mysterious coded message on Voice of Korea, urging him to connect with an agent known as Diamond. To his shock, this agent turns out to be Kim Soon-hee, who professes to be working with the Americans while actually serving as a double agent for North Korea.

When Dulles’ true intentions are exposed, the US readies itself for a display of military strength. Nevertheless, Yu Rim, through Park Mu, uncovers this information and relays it to Pyongyang, effectively undermining American plans and leading the Korean People’s Army to victory against the unprepared forces of the coalition.

Yu continues his intelligence missions by discreetly sending messages back to Pyongyang through a radio operator posing as a disabled veteran soliciting donations outside hotels, hiding key information within discarded cigarette filters. Yet, unbeknownst to him, the CIC is monitoring and recording his every move.

As Kim Soon-hee becomes aware of Yu Rim’s precarious situation, she ingeniously edits out incriminating footage, averting further suspicion on herself. However, her actions inadvertently draw Colonel Klaus’ suspicion towards her, leading to a staged loyalty test where she is kidnapped in Hokkaidō, Japan, by supposed American agents. Masterfully, Kim Soon-hee senses the trap, ultimately escaping after eliminating her captors.

The intensity escalates as Park Mu uncovers the truth about Yu Rim and Kim Soon-hee, propelling him to act under pressure from Colonel Klaus. In a heartbreaking twist, Park kills Kim while she is trying to save Yu Rim, prompting Yu to seek revenge for her betrayal, culminating in a tragic turn of events.

As this tumultuous saga of international intrigue reaches its climax, the North Korean military embarks on a series of fervent assaults, compelling the coalition to engage in arduous peace negotiations. Amidst the chaos, a pivotal moment arises through Yu Rim’s unwavering commitment. His efforts thwart Sin Jae-sin’s nefarious coup, thanks to the strategic support from agents loyal to South Korean President Syngman Rhee.
