Margaret, a driven woman with aspirations of becoming District Attorney, finds her life spiraling into chaos when a young man is discovered dead in her hotel room. In a frantic attempt to gain help without drawing attention, she scrolls through her phone and decides to call a mysterious number given to her by a reliable associate. This decision connects her to Jack, an experienced fixer renowned for his discretion. Despite her hesitance in explaining the source of the contact, she assures Jack that the man had emphasized the importance of keeping one’s word, stating, >“You take a job, you give your word, and that word is the measure of the man.”

When Jack arrives, he learns about Margaret’s earlier encounter with the young man, known only as the Kid, whom she had met at the hotel bar. Their seemingly innocent meeting took a disastrous turn when the Kid tragically plunged onto a glass table during a moment of playful exuberance.

As Jack begins the delicate task of disposing of the body, a sudden knock interrupts him. He opens the door to find Nick, another fixer, explaining that he works for Pam, the elusive owner of the hotel. Pam has her own motives and insists that Jack and Nick work together to ensure the mess is tidied up, much to their annoyance.

They send Margaret away with a concocted alibi and a change of clothes, fully intending to clean the scene without a hitch. However, their plan derails upon finding a stash of drugs hidden in the room. Coupled with a concealed camera set by Pam, suspicion begins to brew that this could be an elaborate setup to ensnare Jack.

Despite their differences, Jack and Nick persist with their grim task, only to be shocked when the Kid suddenly gasps back to life. They quickly place him unconscious in the trunk of their car and rush him to see June, a medical professional familiar to both of them. Just when they believe their troubles may be over, the Kid regains consciousness and bolts, triggering a frantic chase through the city that ends with Jack and Nick finally recapturing him.

Afterward, tension brews as they confront the Kid, engaging him in a series of contrasting interrogations that blend force and persuasion. Ultimately, they uncover the Kid’s link to a drug operation orchestrated by the infamous kingpin Lagrange. The duo learns that a pager, left behind at a nightclub, could lead them to the final drop point, implying a deeper conspiracy at play.

At the club, Jack and Nick spot a familiar figure lurking in the shadows — “The Croatian.” The situation escalates when they discover Dimitri, who is tangled up in their current mess. With quick thinking and a hint of charm, Jack and Nick navigate through this encounter. Seeking a moment of relief, they retreat to a diner, where camaraderie forms over shared experiences and mutual understanding.

They are soon drawn into a deeper conflict when they observe the Kid slipping into a warehouse for a drug handoff, leading to an unexpected ambush by Dimitri’s armed crew. A fierce shootout ensues, and they discover that the Kid miraculously survived by hiding in the trunk of a nearby vehicle.

Feeling increasingly distrustful, Jack and Nick contemplate ending the Kid’s life to tie up loose ends but ultimately decide to let him go after delivering a chilling warning: if he or his father breathe a word of what transpired, grave consequences will follow.

After leaving the Kid’s home, Jack and Nick indulge in breakfast at a well-known diner in Brighton Beach. Their conversation, filled with confusion over the unfolding events, reveals an unexpected tension simmering between them. Jack, curious about Nick’s motivations, asks, “How did Pam convince you to collaborate with me?” Nick echoes Pam’s belief: >“You take a job, you give your word, and that word is the measure of the man.” This realization leads them to understand that they are caught in the web spun by Lagrange, Dimitri, Pam, and Diego, all amidst a perilous game where they suspect their lives are on the line.

Their reflective moment is abruptly shattered when they spot armed men closing in on the diner. As the situation escalates, Jack’s calm inquiry, “I never caught your name,” is met with Nick’s optimistic response that they would exchange names if they survived. United by this glimmer of hope, they brace themselves and unleash a barrage of gunfire against their attackers, standing resolute against the looming threat.
