Alexander Skarsgård

**Alexander Johan Hjalmar Skarsgård**, born 25 August 1976, is a renowned Swedish actor. Born in Stockholm, he kick-started his acting career at a tender age of just seven, but momentarily quit at 13. After serving in the Swedish Navy, he made a comeback in acting with a role in the US comedy film *Zoolander* (2001). He gained recognition for his portrayal of Brad Colbert in the miniseries *Generation Kill* (2008) and the vampire Eric Northman in *True Blood* (2008–2014). Skarsgård further starred in various films including *Melancholia* (2011), *Battleship* (2012), *The Legend of Tarzan* (2016), and played an abusive husband in the drama series *Big Little Lies* (2017–2019) which earned him numerous accolades including a Primetime Emmy Award, and a Golden Globe Award. He continued his successful stint in acting with roles in *Long Shot* (2019), *Godzilla vs. Kong* (2021), *Passing* (2021), *The Northman* (2022), which he also co-produced, *Infinity Pool* (2023), and in the drama series *Succession* (2021–2023). Skarsgård's decision to return to acting post his naval service has led to a prolific and diverse career, establishing him as one of the most renowned names in the film industry.
