In a world of high-stakes finance, Vincent Zaleski (Jesse Eisenberg) presents an alluring opportunity to Bryan Taylor (Frank Schorpion), involving a revolutionary investment in a state-of-the-art fiberoptic cable that plans to link the Kansas electronic exchange directly to the New York Stock Exchange. This ambitious project is designed to transform the realm of high-frequency trading by drastically slashing execution times. Captivated by Vincent’s ambitious vision, Bryan eagerly partners with him to bring this groundbreaking idea to life.

While the two forge ahead, the dynamics at play within their workplace grow increasingly complex. Vincent and his cousin Anton Zaleski (Alexander Skarsgård) are concurrently employed by Eva Torres (Salma Hayek), who is keenly interested in Anton’s development of innovative trading software and is contemplating her own foray into high-frequency trading methodologies.

Tensions flare as Vincent and Anton prepare to venture out on their own, with Eva claiming ownership over any intellectual property developed by Anton, including the innovative concepts he has devised. Undeterred by her claims, the duo sets their sights on their new endeavor, dedicating themselves to constructing the fiberoptic tunnel, while Anton aspiringly works on reducing transmission times to microscopically small fractions.

Simultaneously, Eva is busy honing her own high-frequency trading skills with the assistance of an NYU student who has authored a pioneering paper on microwave pulses. As she rapidly constructs a network of towers geared towards high-speed trading, she leaves Vincent struggling with land acquisition challenges and Anton focused on optimizing their transmission speeds.

Caught in a whirlwind of calamities—a cancer diagnosis, persistent issues with drill bits, and the tough task of securing land—Vincent fights to keep pace as Eva quickly surges ahead with her microwave towers, establishing an iron grip on the trading market. In a surprising twist of fate, she retaliates against Anton by orchestrating his arrest on charges of stock market fraud, turning the tables in this fierce competition.

Despite being in custody, Anton manages to activate a logic bomb within the software he designed for Eva, inadvertently incurring a 20-millisecond delay in her trading processes. This critical setback renders her speedy microwave towers ineffective, compelling Eva to release Anton from custody, hoping to negotiate a truce wherein he will help rectify her software issues.

As Vincent navigates the arduous process of chemotherapy, Anton unveils a revolutionary idea: leveraging neutrino messaging as a means to potentially minimize transmission times between Kansas City and New York by an impressive 9 milliseconds. This groundbreaking innovation offers a glimpse into a thrilling new frontier, leaving audiences on the edge of their seats, wondering whether Anton’s aspirations might indeed become a reality.
