Jeffrey Alan Combs, born September 9, 1954, is an iconic American actor most recognized for his significant contributions to the science fiction and horror genres. He is best known for his starring role as Herbert West in the Re-Animator film series (1985–2003), and his portrayal of multifaceted characters in the Star Trek universe, like Brunt, the various Weyouns on Star Trek: Deep Space Nine (1994–1999), and Thy'lek Shran on Star Trek: Enterprise (2001–2005). Alongside this, he also made a mark as a voice actor, known for his roles as 'Question' on Justice League Unlimited (2004–2006) and Ratchet on Transformers: Prime (2010–2013).

Combs was born in Oxnard, California, and honed his acting skills at the University of Washington’s Professional Actor's Training Program. By 1980, he debuted in the film industry with the film ‘Honky Tonk Freeway’ and found his niche in the horror genre two years later with 'Frightmare (1983)'. His role as Herbert West in the Re-Animator is particularly memorable. Apart from films, Combs has also portrayed significant roles in science fiction TV series like 'Babylon 5' and 'The 4400'. His work as a voiceover artist is also extensive, with roles in The New Batman Adventures, Justice League Unlimited, Transformers: Prime, and others. Combs returned to his theater roots in 2009 with a one-man show as Edgar Allan Poe, titled 'Nevermore...an Evening with Edgar Allan Poe,' which was critically acclaimed.
