Jesse Eisenberg

Jesse Adam Eisenberg (/ˈaɪzənbɜːrɡ/ EYE-zən-burg) is an American actor, writer, and filmmaker renowned for his versatility and detail in his performances. Born on October 5, 1983, he made his screen debut in the late 90s, gaining his breakthrough with the film Roger Dodger (2002). Eisenberg then moved forward to showcase his talent in movies such as The Squid and the Whale (2005), Adventureland (2009), and Zombieland (2009).

His compelling portrayal of Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg in The Social Network (2010) earned him a nomination for the Academy Award for Best Actor. He continued to work in various genres, from heist films like Now You See Me (2013) and its sequel to independent dramas such as The Double (2013). Eisenberg portrayed Lex Luthor in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016) and voiced Blu in the animated films Rio (2011) and Rio 2 (2014). He wrote and starred in three plays for the New York stage and in 2015, he released his first book, Bream Gives Me Hiccups: and Other Stories.

Eisenberg's journey continued into the 2020s, with stellar performances in Resistance (2020), where he played the renowned mime Marcel Marceau, and in the FX/Hulu miniseries Fleishman Is in Trouble (2022). He then made his directorial debut with the black comedy When You Finish Saving the World (2022). In 2024, Eisenberg directed, wrote, and starred in A Real Pain, further adding to his portfolio of varied roles and genres. He has renowned for bringing depth and complexity to his characters, often exploring themes of social awkwardness, intellectual precocity, and existential anxiety.
