Jim Broadbent

Jim Broadbent, an English actor, was born on 24 May 1949. A graduate from the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art in 1972, he rose to prominence as a character actor for his numerous appearances in film and television. Broadbent's prowess and talent earned him various awards including an Academy Award, two BAFTA Awards, an International Emmy Award, and two Golden Globe Awards as well as nominations for two Primetime Emmy Awards and a Grammy Award. His distinguished filmography includes acclaimed movies like Iris, Moulin Rouge!, Time Bandits, Brazil, and Life Is Sweet. Broadbent's broad spectrum of roles stretches from playing Horace Slughorn in Harry Potter film series to Digory Kirke in The Chronicles of Narnia and Samuel Gruber in the Paddington film series.

Broadbent's television roles include Roy Slater in the BBC sitcom Only Fools and Horses and Lord Longford in the Channel 4 film Longford, amongst others. He portrayed Archmaester Ebrose in HBO's popular fantasy series Game of Thrones in 2017, and also acted in London Spy, War & Peace, and King Lear. Conjunctively with his acting career, Broadbent has established himself as a celebrated personality in theater, having been involved in numerous stage productions and plays.
