Mia Farrow

Maria de Lourdes Villiers "Mia" Farrow is an American actress and activist. She gained widespread recognition for her role as Allison MacKenzie in the television soap opera Peyton Place and further recognition for her short marriage to Frank Sinatra. Her early film breakthrough arrived when she starred as Rosemary in Roman Polanski’s horror film, *Rosemary's Baby*, which saw her shortlisted for a BAFTA Award and a Golden Globe Award for Best Actress. She also appeared in multiple films throughout the 1970s, such as *Follow Me!* (1972), *The Great Gatsby* (1974), and *Death on the Nile* (1978). From 1980 to 1992, Farrow was in a relationship with filmmaker Woody Allen and appeared in 13 of his films. That period was notable for her earning Golden Globe Award nominations for Broadway Danny Rose (1984), The Purple Rose of Cairo (1985), and Alice (1990). She also starred in Hannah and Her Sisters (1986), Crimes and Misdemeanors (1989), and Husbands and Wives (1992). In the 2000s, Farrow made occasional appearances on television and in films while focusing on her career as a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador. Her humanitarian work in Darfur, Chad, and the Central African Republic has been widely recognized, leading to Time magazine naming her one of the most influential people in the world in 2008.
