Oona Laurence

**Oona Laurence** (born August 1, 2002) is an immensely talented American actress, renowned chiefly for her role as Matilda Wormwood in the Broadway production of Matilda, alongside Bailey Ryon, Milly Shapiro, and Sophia Gennusa. She jump-started her career as a phenomenal New York City-based child actress with numerous credits in film, theatre, and television. After several performances in regional theatre and minor roles in short films, Laurence auditioned for Matilda on Broadway in 2012. She elegantly landed the titular role, impressing audiences from March 4 to December 15, 2013. Post Matilda, Laurence transitioned to film acting with roles in Tumorhead, A Little Game, The Grief of Others, I Smile Back, Damsel, Lamb, and Southpaw, where she delivered a memorable performance as the daughter of Jake Gyllenhaal and Rachel McAdams' characters. She also made an impact on television with appearances in Law & Order: Special Victims Unit and the critically acclaimed series, Orange Is the New Black. In 2016, Laurence was seen co-starring as Natalie in the film Pete's Dragon and taking on the role of Jane Mitchell in the comedy Bad Moms. She continued her success streak in 2017, co-starring in Sofia Coppola's The Beguiled with Colin Farrell, Nicole Kidman, Kirsten Dunst, and Elle Fanning. Lending her voice talents to the Cartoon Network series Summer Camp Island, she voices Hedgehog, additional characters, and even performs the theme song. Oona Laurence's acting trajectrory further ascended in 2020, as she starred in Netflix's American family dark fantasy film, A Babysitter's Guide to Monster Hunting, opposite Tom Felton, Indya Moore, and Tamara Smart.
