Born on January 26, 1925, in Shaker Heights, Ohio, **Paul Leonard Newman** showed an interest in theatre from an early age. He earned a BA in drama and economics from Kenyon College in 1949, marking the start of his acting career. Newman's first major role was in the 1953 Broadway production _Picnic_. His filmography includes prominent roles in critically acclaimed films including _The Hustler_, _Cool Hand Luke_, and _Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid_. He won an Academy Award for Best Actor for _The Color of Money_ (1986). Besides acting, Newman was a racing driver, philanthropist, and entrepreneur. His passion for racing led to multiple national championships and his philanthropic activities resulted in the creation of the SeriousFun Children's Network and Safe Water Network. He co-founded Newman's Own, a food company that has donated over $570 million in profits to charity. Newman was married twice and was the father of six children. He continued to act into his 80s and passed away on September 26, 2008.
