Rachel Hannah Weisz (pronounced /vaɪs/), born on the 7th of March 1970, is a highly regarded English actress, known both for her roles in independent films and blockbusters. In the early 1990s, Weisz embarked on her acting career with stage and television productions, making her film debut in Death Machine (1994). She received a Critics' Circle Theatre Award for Design for Living (1994) and fame came knocking with her lead role as Evelyn Carnahan in The Mummy (1999) and its sequel The Mummy Returns (2001). With a prolific acting career throughout the 2000s, Weisz starred in numerous notable films such as About a Boy (2002), The Fountain (2006), and The Lovely Bones (2009), among others.

Weisz's stellar performance in The Constant Gardener (2005) garnered her an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress. Her performance in A Streetcar Named Desire (2009) earned her a Laurence Olivier Award for Best Actress. In the 2010s, she continued to shine with performances in The Deep Blue Sea (2011), Denial (2016) and The Favourite (2018), which won her the BAFTA Award for Best Actress in a Supporting Role and another Academy Award nomination. Weisz participated in the Marvel Cinematic Universe with Black Widow (2021) and landed a role in the critically-acclaimed miniseries Dead Ringers (2023). Distinguished as an 'English rose', Weisz is also a producer and an influential figure in the film industry.
