Simon Pegg

**Simon John Pegg** (née Beckingham; born 14 February 1970) is an English actor, comedian and screenwriter. He is known for co-creating the popular Channel 4 sitcom *Spaced* (1999–2001), with the works directed by Edgar Wright. Pegg later went on to co-write films such as *Shaun of the Dead* (2004), *Hot Fuzz* (2007), and *The World's End* (2013), works collectively referred to as the Three Flavours Cornetto trilogy. In these films, Pegg starred alongside Nick Frost, with whom he also wrote and starred in the sci-fi comedy film *Paul* (2011). He has achieved a unique accomplishment with portrayals of well-known characters in *Doctor Who*, *Star Trek* and *Star Wars: The Force Awakens*. He is currently playing Benji Dunn in the ongoing Mission: Impossible film series and lends his voice to Buck in *Ice Age: Adventures of Buck Wild*. Simon is renowned for his performances and has contributed significantly to the film industry. Pegg was born in Brockworth, Gloucestershire as Simon John Beckingham. His parents were Gillian Rosemary, a former civil servant, and John Henry Beckingham, a jazz musician and keyboard salesman. He adopted his stepfather’s surname 'Pegg' after his mother remarried post her divorce when Pegg was seven. His early life includes studies at the University of Bristol, where he pursued theatre, film, and television before breaking into stand-up comedy. He eventually moved into comedic acting with a line-up of significant roles in films and TV series. This includes his roles in *Big Train*, *Band of Brothers*, *Black Books*, and *Guest House Paradiso* amongst others. Pegg's character in *Star Trek* and *Star Wars*, and his voice over for *Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs* and the sequel 'Collision Course' gained immense popularity, etching his name in the stardom. Pegg has also been a vocal supporter of feminist campaigns like 'HeForShe', made his stance clear on societal inequality, and worked actively with Greenpeace to fight overfishing.
