Who is the wealthy motel proprietor consumed by jealousy?
In the captivating setting of Eagles Nest, a luxurious motel in Western Australia, troubles brew for the affluent owner, Jack Taylor. He becomes increasingly convinced that his wife, Alice, is cheating on him. Following a tumultuous confrontation, Jack employs the services of Charlie Wolfe, a private investigator with a sinister side. Armed with video evidence that shows Alice in a compromising situation with Dylan Smith, Jack’s anger prompts him to order Charlie to take drastic measures against her.
Meanwhile, Alice, unaware of the deadly plans afoot, visits Nathan Webb, her dentist, to address a dental issue caused by Jack’s violent outburst. However, she takes a perilous detour by breaking into Jack’s office first, pilfering money from his safe before heading for her appointment. As fate unfolds, Charlie is taken aback by the cunning method Nathan and his wife, Lucy, employ to restrain Alice, involving heavy drugging and a plan to eliminate her via a fiery car crash.
After a series of unfortunate events culminate in the apparent demise of Alice, Charlie, believing his job concluded, seeks payment from Jack while keeping the truth of her fate concealed. Jack, racing against time, soon discovers his financial loss and shifts his suspicion towards Alice and Dylan. Though reassured by Charlie of more money, his dread escalates.
In a twist of fate, Nathan and Lucy concoct an insurance scam, hoping to pass off Lucy’s dental records as Alice’s to claim the crash payout. But their scheme catches the eye of a corrupt cop, Bruce Jones, who demands his cut of the windfall to keep quiet. The tension escalates further when Charlie decides to blackmail Nathan with damning evidence of Alice’s kidnapping, leading to a fateful meeting driven by desperation.
As the plot thickens, a dramatic confrontation leads to chaos when Dylan finds Jack dead and proposes a showdown with Charlie. In a shocking turn of events, Charlie kills Nathan, who, gasping his last, reveals the location of the missing money. Upon returning to Jack’s motel for his due, Charlie is met with another unexpected scenario—Jack’s lifeless body.
Following a trail of bloodshed, Charlie and Lucy are drawn into an uneasy alliance. Yet, when betrayal surfaces and Lucy’s ambitions clash with Charlie’s, the stakes rise higher. Just when Charlie seems to have the upper hand, a confrontation with Dylan leads to more lethal chaos, with Alice emerging from the shadows to reclaim her life and wealth. In a fittingly macabre twist, Charlie finds himself on the wrong end of fate, left to deal with his macabre handiwork while trying to maintain an air of composure. These interwoven narratives culminate in a gripping tale of treachery, greed, and survival.
