Tessa Lynne Thompson, born October 3, 1983, is an acclaimed American actress. She initiated her professional acting career in Los Angeles while enrolled at Santa Monica College, where she participated in several Shakespearean productions including The Tempest and Romeo and Juliet. After her role in Veronica Mars (2005–2006), significant roles followed such as in Mississippi Damned (2009), For Colored Girls (2010), Dear White People (2014), and as Diane in Selma (2014). Her mainstream breakthrough was her roles in franchise films like Creed (2015), Creed II (2018), Creed III (2023) and superhero films in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, such as Thor: Ragnarok (2017) and Thor: Love and Thunder (2022). Notably, she also starred in Men in Black: International (2019) and independent films like Sorry to Bother You (2018) and Annihilation (2018). Her performances have earned her nominations at esteemed award ceremonies including the Emmy and BAFTA for Sylvie's Love (2020) and Passing (2021) respectively. Tessa Thompson's remarkable career expands beyond acting. She has dipped her toes into the world of music, having collaborated with the indie electro soul group, Caught a Ghost.
