As fate would have it, CJ discovers Shane's relentless pursuit while driving, which ultimately leads to a fateful accident claiming Molly's life. The narrative then takes a dramatic turn as Bailey reincarnates once more, this time manifesting as Big Dog, a majestic mastiff residing with his owner Joe at his gas station. While Big Dog thrives in his new role as a loyal guard dog, he cannot help but yearn for CJ's companionship. When she visits the convenience store, their reunion is a poignant reminder of the enduring power of love and connection.

Tragedy strikes once more as Big Dog succumbs to mortality, his spirit wandering back to the same grassy field where Molly met her untimely demise. The cycle of life and death continues as Bailey reincarnates for the final time, emerging as Max, a feisty Yorkshire terrier vying for adoption at a public showcase.

Max's initial reluctance to form connections with potential adopters is eventually overcome when he locks eyes with CJ, chasing her all the way to her apartment complex. Despite her hesitation, CJ ultimately decides to take in Max, who quickly befriends her boyfriend's canine companion. As CJ navigates her burgeoning music career and personal relationships, Max remains a constant source of comfort and companionship, a testament to the transformative power of love and redemption.

As Trent (Lau) settles into his new apartment complex with his girlfriend, Max is struck by a sudden revelation. He discovers that Rocky has since passed on, leaving him to confront the reality of his own mortality. With CJ's relationship faltering, Max seizes the opportunity to orchestrate its demise, effectively ending her romance and prompting her to relocate to Trent's place. However, this strategic move is merely a precursor to Max's true concern: he detects the pungent aroma of cancer wafting from Trent, a sensation eerily reminiscent of his own Molly persona.

As Trent begins chemotherapy treatments, his girlfriend ultimately abandons him, leaving CJ as his primary caregiver.
