Check out what happened in I, Frankenstein!

As the winter of 1795 descended upon the desolate landscape, Dr. Victor Frankenstein (Aden Young) breathed life into a grotesque creation, a patchwork being stitched together from the corpses of the dead. The monster's (Aaron Eckhart) existence was short-lived, however, as Victor's revulsion and fear soon gave way to a murderous rage. In a fit of fury, the creature slaughtered Victor's beloved wife Elizabeth (Virginie Le Brun), prompting the devastated doctor to pursue his creation to the Arctic wilderness in a quest for vengeance. But fate had other plans, and Victor succumbed to the unforgiving climate, leaving the monster to bury its creator and exact a grim revenge.

As the years passed, the creature, now known as Adam (Aaron Eckhart), wandered the earth, driven by a singular purpose: to vanquish the demons that haunted him. His path crossed with Ophir (Mahesh Jadu) and Keziah (Caitlin Stasey), gargoyles who had been crafted by the Archangel Michael to wage war against the forces of darkness and protect humanity. Adam was welcomed into their midst, but he declined their offer to join them, instead choosing to depart with a newfound understanding of his place in the world.

Equipped with weapons bearing the symbol of the Gargoyle Order, Adam dedicated himself to ridding the earth of the demons that pursued him. His centuries-long crusade was marked by numerous skirmishes and battles, each one honing his skills and fortifying his resolve. Yet, as the ages unfolded, Adam's actions took a devastating turn when he inadvertently claimed the life of an innocent human police officer during a confrontation at a modern-day nightclub.

This fateful event drew Adam back to the attention of the gargoyles, who summoned him to face justice for his transgression against humanity. Meanwhile, in the shadows, a demon named Helek (Steve Mouzakis) reported Adam's existence to his master, the cunning demon-prince Naberius (Bill Nighy), who had taken on the guise of billionaire businessman Charles Wessex. Naberius's right-hand man, Dekar (Kevin Grevioux), stood watch as their leader orchestrated a sinister plan to exploit the knowledge of Frankenstein's experiments.

Terra Wade (Yvonne Strahovski), a brilliant scientist with a passion for reanimating the dead, had made significant breakthroughs in her research. Though her work remained focused on reviving rodents rather than humans, she believed that the secrets of Frankenstein's creations held the key to unlocking the mysteries of life and death. Convinced that Naberius's funding could accelerate her research, Terra convinced him to seek out Victor's notes, hoping to unlock the secrets of reanimation.

As the wheels of fate continued to turn, Naberius dispatched a contingent of demons, led by his most formidable warrior, Zuriel (Socratis Otto), to infiltrate the gargoyles' cathedral and capture Adam. The demon-prince aimed to exploit the monster's unique connection to Frankenstein's work, hoping to unlock the secrets of life itself and bring about a new era of darkness.

As the cathedral lay ravaged by the assault, Adam seized the opportunity to break free from Ophir's grasp, convincing the gargoyle leader to release him. The ensuing chaos saw numerous gargoyles, including Ophir and Keziah, ascend back to Heaven, while Lenore fell prey to the demonic forces, ultimately finding herself captive in a deserted theater. Meanwhile, Adam and Gideon converged on the abandoned venue, where they managed to extract Lenore from her captors in exchange for Victor Frankenstein's journal, containing the secrets of his groundbreaking experiment.

As Adam delved deeper into the mystery, he discovered that Naberius planned to recreate Frankenstein's experiment, unleashing a horde of reanimated corpses upon the world. The gargoyles' souls, now free from Hell, would be able to return and possess these soulless bodies, giving them a foothold on earth once more. Adam infiltrated the Wessex Institute, where he uncovered Naberius's diabolical scheme and narrowly escaped with his life.

With this knowledge, Adam confronted Terra, enlightening her about Naberius's sinister plans before they were suddenly ambushed by Zuriel. In a display of cunning and strength, Adam managed to subdue the demonic entity, sending it back to its own realm. He then warned the remaining gargoyles of Naberius's treachery, prompting Lenore to dispatch Gideon to eliminate him and retrieve Frankenstein's journal.

The ensuing battle was brutal and intense, with Adam forced to ascend Gideon against his will. Rather than succumb to despair, Adam decided to destroy the journal and its secrets, aware that the gargoyles would stop at nothing to claim it for themselves. With the journal reduced to ashes, Adam evaded capture, leading the gargoyles on a wild goose chase before finally luring them into a trap at the Wessex Institute.

As the demons descended upon the location, Adam ventured into the heart of the Institute to rescue Terra, who had been kidnapped by Naberius. The demon lord revealed his true form and activated his machine, unleashing a legion of reanimated corpses upon the world. Though initially overpowered, Adam drew strength from his growing soul and proved immune to Naberius's attempts to possess him.

Seizing the opportunity, Adam carved the symbol of the Gargoyle Order onto Naberius's body, sanctifying it and banishing the demon lord alongside his minions. The Wessex Institute collapsed in ruin as a direct result of their descent. In the aftermath, Lenore intervened, rescuing Adam and Terra from the wreckage.

Recognizing Adam's bravery and selfless actions, Lenore forgave him for Gideon's demise, allowing Adam to reclaim his weapons and bid farewell to Terra. As he departed, Adam embarked on an immortal quest to protect humanity and vanquish demons, embracing his true name as Frankenstein – a moniker earned through his unwavering dedication to justice.
