Jem and the Holograms Quiz: Test your knowledge about the adventures of Jerrica Benton and her band, Jem and the Holograms!

What is the name of Jerrica's persona when she performs?

Plot Summary

In this captivating narrative, Jerrica Benton (character name not specified) and her spirited sister Kimber reside with their Aunt Bailey and two foster siblings, Aja and Shana, in a household filled with vibrant ’80s flair. While the quartet regularly records themselves performing music and showcasing their eclectic fashion sense, Jerrica’s shyness holds her back from sharing her singing talents on camera. However, when financial woes threaten to auction off their home, Jerrica pours her emotions into a song, donning the persona “Jem”, a moniker her late father Emmett affectionately bestowed upon her.

Kimber’s impulsive decision to upload the video online sends it viral, garnering millions of views in a single day. Starlight Productions offers Jerrica a record deal, and she, accompanied by her sisters, embarks on an adventure to Los Angeles. There, they meet Erica Raymond, a charming music producer, and her son Rio, with whom Jerrica begins to form a romantic connection.

As the girls settle into their new surroundings, they discover a small robot called 51N3RG.Y (pronounced synergy), an invention of Emmett’s. This enigmatic device suddenly springs to life, guiding them on a thrilling scavenger hunt. Each clue represents a cherished memory or unfulfilled desire Jerrica shared with her father. The objective is to collect the missing pieces designed to complete the robot and unlock its full potential.

The quartet’s journey takes them from the iconic Santa Monica Pier to a guitar once owned by Emmett, which just so happens to be played by a live band. Meanwhile, Rio and Jerrica’s blossoming feelings for each other attract Erica’s disapproval. In an attempt to keep the young couple apart, Erica assigns Rio to another singer.

As their house faces the very real possibility of being auctioned off in just a few days, Aunt Bailey implores Jerrica via FaceTime to take action. Desperate to save their home, Jerrica turns to Erica for financial assistance, but only if she agrees to abandon her family and pursue a solo career. Believing this sacrifice is necessary for the good of her loved ones, Jerrica makes the difficult decision.

However, when the others learn of her choice, they feel betrayed and abandon her. Crushed by her mistake, Jerrica’s spirits are lifted only by a visit to the Los Angeles house where she once shared happy memories with Kimber and their father.

As harmony is restored among her sisters, Jerrica forms a united front to complete the scavenger hunt, with Rio by her side. The duo’s persistence pays off when they realize the final puzzle piece lies in the form of Emmett’s cherished earrings, now possessed by Erica after their first encounter at Starlight. Undeterred, Rio and the sisters hatch a plan to infiltrate Erica’s office, narrowly avoiding detection as they retrieve the coveted earrings. This daring heist yields a thrilling reward: a holographic message from Emmett, offering guidance and validation for Jerrica’s musical ambitions.

As tensions dissipate at Starlight, Jem and her sisters take center stage, delivering an electrifying live performance that showcases their talents. Meanwhile, Rio engages in a conversation with renowned rock journalist Lindsey Pierce, who extends an offer to feature the band on the cover of Rolling Stone. As they brainstorm a name for the group, Rio proposes “Jem and the Holograms,” a moniker that captures the essence of their unique sound.

In a post-credits scene, Erica, now relegated to the periphery after her ousting from Starlight, sets her sights on a motley crew of punk-influenced young women in a seedy junkyard. She attempts to inspire them to form a rival band to challenge the Holograms’ dominance. As their leader Pizzazz learns that Jem and Rio are an item, she invites Erica into their trailer, where graffiti on the exterior reveals their enigmatic moniker: the Misfits.
