Who plays the role of Sabrina Fairchild?

Plot Summary

Sabrina Fairchild (Julia Ormond), the daughter of the Larrabee family’s trusted chauffeur, exists in a world of subtle hierarchy beneath the watchful eye of Maude Larrabee (Nancy Marchand), who has inherited the business empire. Her sons, Linus (Harrison Ford) and David (Greg Kinnear), are two distinct personalities: one a responsible businessman, the other a carefree playboy. Sabrina, however, is drawn to David from afar, unaware that he remains oblivious to her existence.

As Sabrina prepares to depart for Paris to pursue a career at Vogue Magazine, she confesses her feelings to Linus by mistake, setting in motion a series of events that will lead her down a path of self-discovery and romance. In the City of Light, she finds herself swept up in the world of fashion and photography, particularly when she meets Louis (Patrick Bruel), the charming photographer who captures her heart.

Meanwhile, back in the States, David’s affections are captured by Elizabeth Tyson (Lauren Holly), the daughter of Patrick Tyson (Richard Crenna), a potential partner for the Larrabee business. Linus sees this as an opportunity to merge their companies, but little does he know that his own feelings will soon be torn between his loyalty to his family and his growing connection with Sabrina.

When Sabrina returns home, transformed into a glamorous beauty, she unwittingly captures David’s attention once more. He is taken aback by her sudden transformation and invites her to a party, unaware that it is the same girl he had previously ignored. As David becomes smitten with Sabrina, his family is left seething in dismay.

A fateful encounter on the way to meet with Sabrina leaves David injured, allowing Linus to take his place and charm her with his wit and sophistication. Linus hatches a plan to keep Sabrina at arm’s length from David, taking her to Martha’s Vineyard under the guise of photographing one of their family cottages. As they grow closer, Linus begins to realize that Sabrina is more than just a beautiful face – she is intelligent, charming, and captivating.

As tensions rise between the two brothers, Linus decides to send Sabrina off to Paris alone, hoping to spare her from David’s impending marriage to Elizabeth. Maude, however, is privy to Linus’s plan and confronts him about his intentions. Feeling guilty for having manipulated Sabrina, Linus confesses his scheme and sets things in motion for a dramatic conclusion.

In the end, as the dust settles, it becomes clear that true love requires sacrifice, and David must choose between his family obligations and his newfound feelings for Sabrina. The film culminates with a poignant reunion of the two leads, their hearts beating as one as they soar above the clouds on the Concorde, bound for Paris and a future filled with promise.
