On a stormy evening, a woman, Brenda Song, desperately runs through the streets to escape an ominous pursuer. This relentless assailant, driving a truck, forces her into an abandoned house and attaches a winch to her car’s axle to prevent her from fleeing. Panicking, she bolts on foot but is soon struck by an approaching vehicle, leaving her injured and unconscious. The driver, a stranger, calls for assistance, and she is promptly transported to a hospital, where doctors determine she has a punctured lung, severe facial injuries, and internal bleeding in her brain, raising fears of total memory loss. Caring for her is Ashley Scott as Nurse Masters, who aids in her recovery.

As the night passes, a man arrives at the hospital, insisting he is her husband and anxiously waiting for updates on her condition. When the woman awakens, she experiences short-term memory loss and cannot recognize the man, Mike Vogel, who introduces himself as Russell Williams. He informs her that her name is Jennifer and shares devastating news about her life, claiming her parents died in a fire two years prior and that she has distanced herself from friends and job alike.

Meanwhile, Dennis Haysbert portrays Detective Frank Page, who is deeply engrossed in the investigation of Jennifer’s accident. His obsession is fueled by the unresolved case of his own daughter’s kidnapping. The driver who hit Jennifer reports seeing a white pickup truck towing a vehicle with a winch, prompting Frank to scrutinize Russell further, as he drives a truck that fits the description. Witness Jim Kahn, played by Paul Sloan, gifts flowers to Jennifer at the hospital, but they never reach her.

Russell, under scrutiny, claims that the last time he saw Jennifer, she was out for groceries, with a mysterious gap in time following her departure. After Jennifer’s release, Russell takes her to their isolated home, where unsettling memories from the accident start to haunt her. Growing increasingly wary of Russell’s odd behavior, she discovers that he locks her inside at night and that many photographs in their home have been tampered with, displaying inconsistencies—like Russell’s hair color differing between images and reflections.

Detective Page inches closer to the truth as he learns that Kahn has witnessed essential details about the pickup truck. In a fit of rage, Russell confronts Kahn, leading to a violent altercation that results in Kahn’s murder, thereafter burying his body in the backyard where Jennifer spots him.

As Detective Page continues to investigate, he presses Russell for answers about Jennifer’s whereabouts, only to find inconsistencies in Russell’s story and missing records from the night of the incident. Discovering unsettling surveillance footage revealing Russell arriving in a pickup truck on the night of the accident, the detective pieces together Jennifer’s true identity. He even uncovers the grim fate of her parents, discovering their decomposed bodies at their home.

When Jennifer discovers her ID in Russell’s wallet, she uncovers the horrifying truth about her dangerous captor, who is actually named Ryan Gaerity. As Ryan momentarily leaves, Jennifer seizes the opportunity and tries to escape. However, Ryan captures her again, binds her to a bed, and reveals the grim reality that he harbored feelings for her for years, angered by her marriage to Russell.

In a climactic confrontation, Ryan attempts to end Jennifer’s life, but Frank intervenes, only to be incapacitated by Ryan. In a desperate struggle, Jennifer manages to take the gun and shoots Ryan in self-defense, ensuring her survival.

Three months later, as she embarks on a journey towards San Jose, Detective Page delivers a heartfelt note from her late husband, Russell, whose voice echoes through the narrative, expressing his enduring love for her. The harrowing experience not only unravels Jennifer’s lost memories but also leaves her with a poignant reminder of the love that transcended even the darkest of times.
