Plot Summary

In the midst of Bucharest’s bustling streets, U.S. Marine Gunnery Sergeant Alexandra “Ali” Gorski (played a pivotal role in protecting a high-stakes convoy carrying the ambassador’s daughter. Despite her valiant efforts, armed mercenaries launched a surprise attack, leaving the ambassador, his wife, and their daughter brutally slain. Shaken to her core, Ali bid farewell to her Marine days and returned to New York City, seeking solace in the familiar surroundings of her childhood home.

It was there that she received an unexpected call from her uncle Pat, a trusted figure in her life, offering her a job at The Carrington Hotel, where he worked alongside another doorman named Borz. As Ali began her new role, she discovered that her late sister’s husband, Jon Stanton (a respected professor), and his two children, Max and Lily, resided within the hotel’s walls. Moreover, Jon shared a complicated history with Ali, one that would soon resurface during their Easter celebration.

As Pat and Ali navigated their new roles at the hotel, they were unaware of the treachery brewing beneath their feet. Borz, masquerading as a harmless doorman, was actually on the hunt for valuable paintings hidden within the hotel’s labyrinthine corridors. The stakes escalated when Borz brutally murdered Pat with a sledgehammer, revealing his true intentions.

The aftermath brought forth a cast of ruthless characters, led by Victor Dubois, who initiated a lockdown at the hotel. As tensions mounted, Dubois and his cohorts invaded the apartment of Bernard Hersch, a man afflicted with akinetic mutism – a condition that left him unable to utter a word. Dubois, however, knew Bernard as Erich Dreischler and demanded answers regarding the paintings’ whereabouts. When Bernard remained silent, Borz resorted to violence, piercing his hand and ultimately awakening Bernard’s long-dormant memories.

The mercenaries then zeroed in on Room 10C, occupied by Jon Stanton and his family. Dubois and his men took Lily hostage, while Max slipped away unnoticed. As the standoff unfolded, Dubois discovered a hidden safe containing the coveted paintings and instructed Martinez to utilize a water-cooled drill to bypass the combination code.

Meanwhile, Jon attempted to distract Dubois by offering him a glass of wine, allowing Lily to secretly access his laptop and send out a distress call via Facebook. However, Borz caught wind of her plan and compelled her to delete the message, leaving the Stantons’ fate hanging precariously in the balance.

As chaos ensues in the wake of discovery, Ali’s fury is palpable as she confronts the gruesome aftermath of the Hersch couple’s brutal murder at the hands of Borz and his henchmen. Her outrage is momentarily redirected towards the traitorous mercenary, whose deception is swiftly punished with a swift and deadly retribution. In her desperation to alert the authorities, Ali joins forces with Max (her erstwhile ally), activating the fire alarm in a futile attempt to summon the firefighters. However, their efforts are met with skepticism by the responding crew, who, under Borz’s guise of innocence, depart the scene without incident.

Meanwhile, as the situation spirals out of control, Max finds himself separated from Ali and recaptured by the mercenaries. Dubois, the cunning mastermind behind the operation, issues a dire ultimatum via the public address system, ordering Ali to surrender herself forthwith. Undeterred, Ali discerns the hidden Morse code message transmitted through the PA system by Max, which prompts her to disable the main water valve. This strategic move inadvertently triggers a catastrophic sequence of events, culminating in the demise of Leo at the hands of Ali’s improvised explosive device.

As the stakes grow increasingly dire, Dubois threatens to harm Jon and his family unless Ali complies with his demands to restore the water supply. Under duress, she reluctantly agrees to facilitate the mercenaries’ nefarious scheme, while Olsen, a corrupt NYPD officer in cahoots with Dubois, stands by, gun at the ready.

The safe finally yields its secrets, revealing the treasured artworks that have driven the mercenary’s machinations. A gruesome power struggle ensues as Martinez and Borz negotiate a division of the spoils, with Ali exacting her own brand of justice upon Olsen before claiming Martinez as her hostage. The situation reaches its climax as Borz brutally dispatches Jon and kills Martinez, securing for himself a 50% share in the ill-gotten gains.

As the authorities arrive at the scene, Borz assumes the guise of a doorman, feigning innocence while Ali, meanwhile, incapacitates the police and embarks on a perilous pursuit through the labyrinthine sewer tunnels. The tables are soon turned as Borz turns on Dubois, ending his life with ruthless efficiency. Ali then engages in a brutal struggle with Borz before delivering the fatal blow via a strategically deployed grenade.

In the aftermath of her triumphant victory, Ali bid farewell to Jon and his children, who, scarred by their experiences, prepare to depart for London, leaving behind the devastation and chaos that has come to define their lives.
