The Equalizer 3 2023

At a secluded winery in Sicily, Robert McCall (played by Denzel Washington) confronts and slays crime enforcer Lorenzo Vitale (portrayed by Bruno Bilotta) along with his henchmen. His aim? To reclaim funds stolen during a cyber-heist by obtaining a key to the winery’s vault. However, as Robert flees the scene, he is unexpectedly shot in the back by Vitale’s young grandson. Contemplating suicide due to his grave injury, he discovers that his gun is out of bullets, leading him to take a ferry back to the mainland.

While driving along the picturesque Amalfi Coast, tragedy strikes; Robert loses consciousness from shock after pulling over. Luckily, he is rescued by Gio Bonucci (played by Eugenio Mastrandrea), a local Carabiniere, who transports him to a tranquil coastal town known as Altamonte. There, Robert receives treatment from a small-town physician, Dr. Enzo Arisio (played by Remo Girone). As he begins to connect with the friendly townsfolk, Robert finds himself becoming increasingly fond of their close-knit community.

Determined to expose the corruption linked to the winery, he makes an anonymous call to CIA officer Emma Collins (played by Dakota Fanning), warning her about the winery’s involvement in the illegal drug trade masquerading as legitimate business ventures in Sicily. Soon after, Emma and her CIA team arrive at the winery, where they unearth millions in cash along with bags of Fenethylline tablets stored discreetly, validating Robert’s claims.

Simultaneously, the members of the criminal organization known as the Camorra begin to terrorize and eliminate villagers to seize control of Altamonte for development. Robert witnesses Marco Quaranta (portrayed by Andrea Dodero), a high-ranking Camorra member, pressuring local merchant Angelo (played by Daniele Perrone) for payoffs. In a brazen act of intimidation, the Camorra sets Angelo’s fish store ablaze while all of Altamonte watches in horror. Subsequently, Bonucci reviews footage of the attack and contacts the Italian central police, triggering his own family’s distress when the Camorra retaliates against them for sticking their noses in.

Meanwhile, Emma tracks Robert down to Altamonte and becomes aware of his involvement in the violent events at the vineyard. She enlists his help to uncover why Lorenzo was utilizing Sicily as a base for drug trafficking from the Middle East into Europe, given that it is the most heavily protected port in the region.

Eventually, Marco pressures Bonucci to arrange a boat for their operations. Overhearing this conversation, Robert implores them to relocate their activities. However, Marco refuses, leading to a brutal showdown in which Robert kills him and his crew. Tragically, a Rome station falls victim to a bombing by Syrian terrorists, revealing that Lorenzo’s drug money was financing their operations. Emma deduces that this drug channeling occurs through Sicily.

With assistance from local authorities, Emma embarks on a pursuit to unearth terrorist cells in Sicily. In the meantime, the head of the Naples police finds himself subject to threats and torture at the hands of Vincent Quaranta (played by Andrea Scarduzio), Marco’s brother and the Camorra leader, as he demands to identify Marco’s killer. Aware of Vincent’s connection to Syrian drug deals, the police chief divulges information about Emma, who is nearing the discovery of Vincent’s clandestine activities.

In a desperate gamble, Vincent rigs Emma’s vehicle with a bomb, but she miraculously survives thanks to Robert’s warning. Later, Vincent takes the desperate step of threatening to execute Bonucci publicly unless Robert reveals himself. Robert displays courage by exposing himself, but as Vincent prepares to end his life, the citizens begin to document the unfolding event, prompting Vincent and the Camorra to retreat with plans for vengeance.

That evening, empowered by a sense of purpose, Robert infiltrates Vincent’s estate undetected, picks off his guards, and ultimately compels Vincent to ingest a lethal dose of his own drugs, orchestrating his downfall. Through Emma, Robert returns the ill-gotten gains he took from the winery to a retired couple whose pension fund had been stolen by Lorenzo.

Back in Virginia’s Langley, Emma is honored with a promotion for her integral role in dismantling the Altamonte drug operation. She receives a package containing a book of contacts, along with a heartfelt note from Robert, congratulating her and reminiscing about her mother, revealing her to be the daughter of Robert’s late friend and colleague, Susan Plummer. As Robert reflects on the recent turmoil, he shares a moment of celebration with the townsfolk following their football team’s triumphant victory over their rivals.
