Alicia Silverstone, born on October 4, 1976, in San Francisco, California, is an American actress who made her film debut in the thriller The Crush (1993). This performance earned her the 1994 MTV Movie Award for Best Breakthrough Performance. Silverstone gained further prominence as a teen idol when she appeared in music videos for Aerosmith's songs *Cryin'**, Amazing, and Crazy. Her starring role as Cher Horowitz in the teen comedy film Clueless (1995) earned her a multi-million dollar deal with Columbia Pictures. Silverstone starred in Batman & Robin (1997) as Batgirl. She has continued to act in film, television and on stage. As a vegan, Silverstone has endorsed PETA activities and published two cookbooks: The Kind Diet (2009) and The Kind Mama (2014).

Silverstone's career began in 1992 with her first credited acting role on The Wonder Years. After gaining attention in Aerosmith music videos, her career soared when she was cast in Clueless. This performance garnered her a multi-million dollar contract with Columbia Pictures. Over the years, she continued acting in a variety of roles, even receiving a Golden Globe nomination for her role in the short-lived NBC series Miss Match (2003). Her personal life has also been active, from her marriage to Christopher Jarecki and the birth of their child, to her active participation in animal rights advocacy.
