In a world ravaged by an unexplained calamity, Troy and his son Jake have eked out a solitary existence for over two decades, eking out a meager survival in the unforgiving wilderness. Theirs is a grim reality where every stranger poses a mortal threat, one that must be eliminated with ruthless efficiency - a lesson Troy has relentlessly drilled into Jake's psyche. For Jake, the world beyond their secluded haven is a perilous expanse where trust is a luxury they can ill afford.

But when an unexpected intruder wounds Troy, Jake is forced to venture forth in search of medical supplies, and it is on this journey that he encounters Henrietta, a mysterious woman tending to her garden. Unlike the countless strangers who have preceded him, Jake finds himself unable to bring himself to kill her, as his father's creed demands. Instead, he pilfers antibiotics and steroids from her home, returning to Troy with a secret that could jeopardize their very existence.

As Jake navigates this moral ambiguity, he begins to manipulate their supplies, hiding food from Troy in an effort to justify another hunting trip. This ruse affords him the opportunity to pay Henrietta another visit, and it is here that he begins to question the true nature of their isolated world. As Jake's doubts simmer beneath the surface, Troy's suspicions grow, his gaze narrowing on his son with a calculating intensity that suggests he too may be harboring secrets.

The truth, much like the outside world, slowly begins to unravel, revealing a reality far removed from the desolate wasteland Troy has long described. With this revelation comes a profound shift in Jake's perception of their harsh existence, and it is here that the true story begins to unfold - one of survival, redemption, and the blurred lines between good and evil.
