Benedict Cumberbatch

**Benedict Timothy Carlton Cumberbatch CBE** (born 19 July 1976) is an English actor known for both his stage and screen work. He's received numerous accolades, including a BAFTA TV Award, a Primetime Emmy Award, and a Laurence Olivier Award, and was nominated for two Academy Awards and four Golden Globe Awards. Cumberbatch studied drama at Victoria University of Manchester and earned a Master of Arts in classical acting from the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art. He made his West End debut in 2005 and has since starred in several productions including 'After the Dance' and 'Frankenstein', and received the Laurence Olivier Award for Best Actor for his performance in the latter. In 2015, he starred in 'Hamlet' at the Barbican Theatre. Cumberbatch's television work includes his portrayal of Stephen Hawking in the film 'Hawking'. He gained wider recognition for his role as Sherlock Holmes in the series 'Sherlock', for which he won a Primetime Emmy Award. He has also starred in multiple films, including 'The Imitation Game' and 'The Power of the Dog', earning Academy Award nominations for his performances in both. Cumberbatch has also acted in several blockbuster films, including 'Star Trek Into Darkness', 'The Hobbit' film series, and the Marvel Cinematic Universe where he portrays Dr. Stephen Strange.
