Christopher Julius Rock (born February 7, 1965) is a prominent American comedian, actor, and filmmaker. His breakthrough came from his stand-up routines in the 1980s, where he candidly addressed subjects such as race relations, human sexuality, and observational comedy. His success spanned across film, television, and stage, earning him numerous accolades, including three Grammy Awards for Best Comedy Album, four Primetime Emmy Awards, and a Golden Globe Award nomination. Rock ranked No. 5 on Comedy Central's list of the 100 Greatest Stand-ups of All Time and No. 5 on Rolling Stone's list of the 50 Best Stand-Up Comics of All Time.

After working as a stand-up comedian and appearing in minor film roles, Rock gained fame as a cast member on the NBC sketch comedy series Saturday Night Live. He went on to appear in several successful films and produced shows like Everybody Hates Chris based on his early life. His career has been marked by memorable moments, including hosting the Academy Awards twice. He was born in Andrews, South Carolina, but his family soon moved to Brooklyn, New York, where he was raised. He is of Cameroonian lineage.
