David Dastmalchian

David Dastmalchian is an American actor, writer, and producer, born on July 21, 1975, widely known for his character roles in several major franchises like the Dark Knight, Ant-Man, The Suicide Squad, and the CW's The Flash. He collaborated with Denis Villeneuve in three films; Prisoners, Blade Runner 2049, and Dune. Before his successful career, Dastmalchian studied at The Theatre School at DePaul University. He dealt with heroin addiction for five years and wrote about his experiences in his screenplay, Animals. He is an advocate for mental health and substance abuse treatment programs.

Dastmalchian’s professional career started in Chicago, where he worked on stage and in commercials. His feature film debut came with Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight and his portrayal of Bob Taylor in Denis Villeneuve's Prisoners received positive reviews. Dastmalchian is also recognizable from varying roles on TV series including MacGyver, the Fox sci-fi series Almost Human, the BBC drama series Intruders, and more. Relentlessly building his versatile career, Dastmalchian was a leading actor in the horror films Late Night with the Devil and The Boogeyman, and The Last Voyage of the Demeter. Beyond acting, he made contributions to the comic book world with his Dark Horse Comics series Count Crowley in 2019.
