Born in Wellington, New Zealand, Russell Ira Crowe embarked on an acting career in 1972 and has since esteemed himself as an accomplished actor and film producer. His roots go back to New Zealand, but he spent key years of his childhood in Australia. Now aged 60, his work on-screen has not only earned him fame but also awards including an Academy Award, two Golden Globe Awards, and a British Academy Film Award.

After a breakthrough role in the drama Romper Stomper (1992), he swiftly transitioned towards international recognition, starring in blockbusters such as L.A. Confidential and The Insider. Russell's crowning moment came with the title role in Gladiator (2000), which won him the Academy Award for Best Actor. Further critical acclaim followed for his portrayal of mathematician John Forbes Nash Jr. in the biopic A Beautiful Mind. He then continued to star in versatile roles in films such as American Gangster and Robin Hood. More recently, he appeared in the superhero film Man of Steel and the Marvel Cinematic Universe film Thor: Love and Thunder. In 2014, he made his directorial debut with The Water Diviner, which he also starred in. Besides acting, he co-owns the National Rugby League (NRL) team South Sydney Rabbitohs.
