Plot Summary

In the idyllic town of Mossingham, a chance encounter between John and his loyal Border Collie Bingo while purchasing chips leads to an astonishing revelation - the unexpected landing of a UFO in the vicinity. Meanwhile, on the adjacent Mossy Bottom Farm, Shaun and the flock are perpetually seeking thrills, only to be thwarted at every turn by the diligent Bitzer. As tensions rise, Shaun’s frustration boils over when he’s denied a barbecue dinner, prompting him to order three pizzas instead. However, upon arrival, both Bitzer and the flock discover that the boxes are eerily empty, a harbinger of the strange events that will soon unfold.

The next morning, Shaun stumbles upon a trail of pizza crusts, leading him to an unexpected encounter with the visitor - Lu-La, a tentacled canine-like alien from the planet To-Pa with the extraordinary abilities to mimic sounds and levitate objects. As she’s introduced to the flock, chaos ensues as she inadvertently wreaks havoc on the combine harvester, leaving behind a trail of crop circles in the field. Seizing upon the recent buzz surrounding alien sightings, the Farmer decides to capitalize on the phenomenon by creating an extraterrestrial-themed amusement park - “Farmageddon” - which he hopes will yield a substantial profit and fund his new harvester.

In tandem with these developments, Agent Red, the obsessive leader of the Ministry of Alien Detection (M.A.D.), is hot on the trail of verifying the existence of aliens, fueled by childhood memories of encountering two extraterrestrial beings. Meanwhile, Shaun and Lu-La embark on a mission to track down the UFO, accompanied by Bitzer, who unwittingly dons an alien costume while posting flyers for “Farmageddon”. As they venture further, Lu-La transmits her recollections to Shaun, revealing that she’s actually a young alien who accidentally launched her parents’ UFO during a playful escapade. The trio realizes that they require the egg-shaped device, which was inadvertently dropped by Lu-La upon departing the UFO, to reactivate it.

As M.A.D. mistakenly identifies Bitzer as an extraterrestrial and gives chase, Shaun, Lu-La, and Bitzer find themselves on board the captured UFO, where they also stumble upon the crucial device. The authorities whisk both the device and the UFO away to their secret base, leaving the trio to ponder the extraordinary events that have transpired.

As Shaun and Lu-La make their escape from the base, they successfully retrieve the device and reboot the ship’s systems, paving the way for their daring getaway. With the UFO back online, they set a course for To-Pa, but not before Shaun’s impulsive nature gets the better of him - he ignores Bitzer’s warnings and fiddles with the ship’s controls, ultimately causing them to crash-land back at the farm. The devastating loss is compounded by Lu-La’s heartbreak as she mourns the destruction of their vessel. Feeling guilty and desperate to make amends, Shaun discovers that the device can be used to send out a distress signal if he can reach a sufficient altitude. He proposes an audacious plan with Lu-La: they’ll attempt to scale the towering “Farmageddon” theme park monolith to broadcast their plight.

With the flock and Bitzer’s assistance, the unlikely duo embarks on this perilous quest as the Farmer launches his show at the theme park below. Meanwhile, Red arrives on the scene, piloting a formidable mecha in hot pursuit of Shaun and Lu-La. Undeterred, Shaun manages to outmaneuver Red and send out the distress signal, prompting the arrival of Lu-La’s parents, Ub-Do and Me-Ma. As tensions ease, Red finally comes to terms with her alien guests, recognizing them as the very beings she encountered in her childhood. With a newfound sense of understanding, Shaun, Bitzer, and the flock bid farewell to their extraterrestrial friends, while the “Farmageddon” theme park show is hailed as an unexpected success - its elaborate special effects incorporating the chaotic events that unfolded.

As they depart for To-Pa, Lu-La’s parents graciously accept the Farmer’s accidental stowaway status and opt to return him to Earth. In a mid-credits scene, Shaun, Bitzer, and the flock engage in a lighthearted game of frisbee, oblivious to the chaos that ensues as the Farmer activates his new harvester, only to have it spectacularly explode due to a stray frisbee.

In a post-credits scene, one of the hazmat suits is seen entering a dimly lit room filled with the eerie sound of silence. As he removes his protective gear, the figure is revealed to be none other than Brian Cox. With a hint of nervousness, he attempts to play “Things Can Only Get Better” on the piano, but his efforts are abruptly cut short by Timmy’s arrival, who promptly unplugs the instrument and orders the hazmat suit to keep quiet.
