Band of Robbers 2016

As Huck Finn steps out of the clutches of confinement, he is met with an old acquaintance - Tom Sawyer, now a law enforcement officer who’s stuck in his childhood fantasies of wealth and grandeur. Tom, still clinging to the notion that they can relive their carefree days by pilfering from the wealthy, convinces Huck and their hapless companions Joe Harper and Ben Rogers to join forces for a daring heist at a local pawnshop. Their guide and confidant, Muff Potter, an aging vagrant struggling with his own demons, believes that Injun Joe, a ruthless and cunning white criminal with a fascination for Native American culture, has stashed away the treasured spoils of Murrell’s ill-gotten gains. Tom spins the tale that robbing the guilty makes them heroes, but things take an unexpected turn when he is tasked by his superiors to train the eager-to-learn Becky Thatcher, a rookie cop bursting with enthusiasm.

As their haphazard group embarks on a quest for treasure, replete with cryptic clues and hidden dangers, Tom’s leadership becomes increasingly questionable. Meanwhile, Huck’s friend Jorge Jimenez, an itinerant laborer from Mexico, finds himself mistakenly ensnared in the band’s escapades and arrested, sparking a chain reaction that sets off a wild goose chase to rescue him and salvage their reputations. As they flee from the vengeful Injun Joe and the long arm of the law, Huck and Tom are driven by an insatiable desire to prove themselves heroes, leading their motley crew on a series of perilous misadventures through the treacherous landscape of their own making.
