Gloria Fuentes, portrayed by Gina Rodriguez, is a spirited Latin-American makeup artist hailing from Los Angeles. She sets off on an exciting journey to Tijuana, Mexico, to cheer on her best friend Suzu, played by Christina Rodlo, who is gearing up to compete in the prestigious Miss Tijuana pageant. As they reach the registration area, they encounter a group of cynical women who doubt Gloria’s confidence, implying that she wouldn’t dare to enter the competition herself. But with Suzu’s encouragement, Gloria shakes off their skepticism and the two friends decide to enjoy a wild night out at a lively club.

Their night takes a terrifying turn when, amid the energetic atmosphere, Suzu spots the Chief of Police, a figure she desperately needs to impress to bolster her chances in the competition. After Gloria ducks into the restroom for a moment, a horrific event unfolds—a band of ruthless assassins linked to the notorious Las Estrellas crime syndicate infiltrates the club via the ventilation system and opens fire on the unsuspecting crowd. Though chaos reigns, Gloria narrowly escapes with a warning but suffers a head injury in the frenzy. In her frantic efforts to find Suzu amidst the horrific scene, she quickly realizes that her friend has vanished in the chaos.

The next day, shaken but resolute, Gloria seeks help from the police, requesting them to escort her to the station to report Suzu missing. Unfortunately, the situation spirals downward when the officers unexpectedly hand her over to Las Estrellas, who drag her to their ominous headquarters. Here, she encounters Lino, a manipulative figure played by Ismael Cruz Cordova, who heads the criminal organization. He offers her a sinister proposition: he’ll assist in the search for Suzu if she proves her loyalty by complying with his demands.

Reluctantly, Gloria agrees and is soon sent on a covert mission to park a vehicle at a designated location. This decision ignites a series of catastrophic events when the building housing DEA agents is attacked, leading her to flee back to the Miss Tijuana pageant. At this point, she meets a stranger who claims to be American but is in reality an undercover DEA agent, who blackmails her into using her phone to gain information on Las Estrellas.

With pressure mounting, Gloria once again finds herself entangled with the very organization she longs to escape from. Tension rises as she is assigned to carry a package stuffed with illegal goods while navigating the perilous US-Mexico border, where her dread peaks as she approaches the San Diego crossing. Yet, displaying remarkable cunning, Gloria manages to slip through unnoticed and seeks out Jimmy, portrayed by Anthony Mackie, who delivers a cryptic warning from Lino: the DEA is in their midst.

Loaded with weapons, Gloria faces yet another life-threatening journey to a predetermined destination in San Diego, where she must deliver crucial intel to Lino’s operation. As fate would have it, her return to Las Estrellas positions her at the mercy of her captors, who have plotted a trap involving the DEA. When Gloria arrives at the bullring, the tension culminates as law enforcement and DEA agents converge on her location. In a desperate escape attempt, she realizes that she has been a pawn all along in Lino’s dangerous game.

When Lino appears, injured yet menacing, Gloria is forced into a precarious position: she can either escape, risking dire consequences, or ally with him to seek vengeance and perhaps rescue Suzu. In a daring act of trust, she chooses to partner with Lino, as they plot a brutal counterstrike against the DEA.

The fallout from this violent confrontation leads Gloria to cross paths with Isabel, played by Aislinn Derbez, a young woman who has been ensnared into the gang’s web. As she discovers that Isabel has been secretly collaborating with the DEA, Gloria’s reality is shaken once more. In a frantic effort to stay ahead of her pursuers, she covertly swaps the vital chip from her phone with Isabel’s, unknowingly sealing her friend’s fate.

The following morning, Gloria confronts Lino about his deceit and encounters a chilling indifference. With everything on the line, she must navigate the treacherous realm of Las Estrellas again, fueling her thirst for revenge while striving to regain control over her life. As Gloria messages Lino on a postcard about eliminating the chief, she pivots her focus to tracking down Suzu. When they reunite outside, she executes swift justice on the unscrupulous police chief yet spares his life in a moment of mercy—only to have Lino arrive and coldly execute the officer himself.

Realizing Lino’s prior knowledge of Suzu’s whereabouts, Gloria becomes increasingly resolute. A deadly confrontation ensues, resulting in Gloria’s own arrest alongside Suzu. When she finds herself in an interrogation room, a startling twist awaits; Jimmy, previously innocuous, now reveals himself, devoid of tattoos, as a CIA operative.

With this revelation igniting her determination, Gloria strikes a deal with Jimmy: her assistance to the CIA in exchange for dropped charges against her and Suzu. The agreement reached, she reunites her friend with her relieved family before embarking on a new chapter with Jimmy. As they drive off into an uncertain future, the screen freezes on their hopeful yet treacherous path ahead.
