Anthony Mackie

Anthony Dwane Mackie (born September 23, 1978) is an American actor and film producer. He made his film debut starring in the music drama film 8 Mile (2002). In 2004, he was nominated for the Independent Spirit Award for Best Actor for his performance in the LGBT drama Brother to Brother, and also appeared in psychological thriller The Manchurian Candidate, the Spike Lee TV film Sucker Free City, and the sports film Million Dollar Baby. Mackie has since starred in a number of renowned films, including Half Nelson (2006) and the action thriller Eagle Eye (2008). He received an Independent Spirit Award nomination for his performance in The Hurt Locker (2008), and portrayed Tupac Shakur in Notorious (2009). He later starred in Night Catches Us (2010), and The Adjustment Bureau and Real Steel (both 2011).

Mackie gained global recognition for portraying Sam Wilson / Falcon / Captain America in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, starting with Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014). He went on to star in the Disney+ miniseries The Falcon and the Winter Soldier (2021), and is set to headline Captain America: Brave New World (2025). Additionally, he has worked in the period crime film Detroit (2017), The Hate U Give (2018), the horror film Synchronic (2019), and The Banker (2020). Outside of film, Mackie has performed in Broadway and Off-Broadway adaptations. He won an Obie Award in 2002 for his work in Carl Hancock Rux's Talk, and has also played Martin Luther King Jr. in the HBO TV film All the Way (2016) and Takeshi Kovacs in the Netflix series Altered Carbon (2020). Currently, he stars in the Peacock series Twisted Metal (2023–present).
