Unable to find a suitable apartment in Seattle, Washington, journalist Nick Elliot decides to venture into the suburbs. There, he comes across a sign advertising a guest house available for rent, owned by the frequently traveling couple, Liv and Cliff Forrester. Without much hesitation, Nick accepts the property and begins to renovate it.
