In 1991, Alabama faced the wrath of Hurricane Andrew. Niles Rutledge, portrayed by Stuart McQuarrie, desperately attempted to escape with his sons, Will (played by Leonardo Dickens) and Breeze (portrayed by Patrick McAuley). Tension brewed as Will blamed Breeze for their unfortunate predicament, which stemmed from Breeze’s innocent kite flying. As Niles swerved to avoid a perilous flying tree, their truck veered into a ditch, leading him to seek refuge in a nearby vacant house. Unfortunately, the storm’s fury escalated, culminating in a water tower crashing down on Niles, witnessed heart-wrenchingly by his sons. Amidst the chaos, a skull appeared in the clouds, foreshadowing darkness.
Fast forward to the Present Day, a Tropical Storm Tammy steadily gains strength in the Gulf of Mexico and threatens to unleash its full might upon Gulfport. Now a meteorologist, Will is dispatched to Alabama to set drones in the air. Fully aware of the storm’s intensity, he realizes the locals are tragically underestimating its potential threat.
Meanwhile, Treasury agents Casey Corbin (played by Maggie Grace) and Connor Perkins (portrayed by Ralph Ineson) find themselves ensnared in traffic, making their way back to the Treasury building. Taking decisive action, Casey leads their trucks off-road through a tobacco field. While they navigate the terrain, they are inadvertently spotted by a trio of criminals—brothers Clement (played by Jamie Andrew Cutler), Xander (portrayed by Jimmy Walker), and accomplice Jaqi (Moyo Akande)—as they tamper with a tower.
Under duress, Casey grapples with managing a cache of old currency slated for destruction following a deadly incident in Utah, a burden she carries with guilt. Meanwhile, her colleague and ally, Randy Moreno (portrayed by Christian Contreras), recruits tech specialists Frears (played by Ed Birch) and Sasha (portrayed by Melissa Bolona) to troubleshoot a critical tech malfunction. As the generator fails, Moreno tasks Casey with finding Breeze, who operates a repair shop after his stint as a Marine.
Will decides to return to find Breeze, who is wrestling with his scars from their father’s death and hinted to be struggling with alcoholism. He persuades Breeze to assist him in boarding up his home.
Soon, chaos erupts as Clement and Xander assault the Treasury building, taking employees hostage. Within this crew, Perkins has been revealed as an inside man. The hackers, Frears and Sasha, have maliciously tampered with the shredder’s operations, leading to nearly $600 million being at stake for the thieves—the only thing preventing their pilfering is the new code known solely to Casey.
As events unfold, Casey, in her quest to retrieve Breeze, becomes embroiled in a dangerous confrontation with armed assailants. However, she is saved by Breeze, only to realize they are trapped by security beams. Will, fortuitously driving by, witnesses the confrontation and rescues Casey from the melee.
Driving to the sheriff’s office, they unsuspectingly encounter Sheriff Dixon (portrayed by Ben Cross), only to discover his involvement in the criminal operation, leading Casey to retrieve her firearm as she and Will make their escape amid the intensifying storm.
As they evade the criminals, Will exhaustively devises a plan to dismantle the tower set for heist, despite the torrential Category 4 winds that threaten their safety. With Perkins now aware of their next move, a flurry of violence ensues as they scramble to outwit the villains alongside the unrelenting storm.
In a climactic showdown, Will, Casey, and Breeze find themselves in fleeing peril when the stakes rise, leading to explosive confrontations, double-crosses, and high-velocity action. Casey’s struggles to protect hostages intertwine with her fierce resolve, bringing critical threats and past trauma to a head as they race against time to save each other and reclaim their lives from the wake of criminal chaos.
Amidst near brushes with death and gripping exchanges, the trio’s focused determination crystallizes as a ferocious storm bears down upon them, leading them toward a precarious, yet hopeful, new dawn against overwhelming odds.
