Adarsh Gourav

Adarsh Gourav Bhagavatula (born 8 July 1994 in Jamshedpur, Jharkhand) is an Indian actor who has made a notable impact in both Hindi and English‑language cinema and television. He began his on‑screen journey at the age of fourteen with a cameo in the drama My Name Is Khan (2010), where he portrayed a young Shahrukh Khan, a role that introduced him to a wide audience. After completing his schooling at Loyola School in Jamshedpur and later at Lilavatibai Podar High School in Mumbai, he pursued higher education at Narsee Monjee College of Commerce, where his passion for music and performance deepened through participation in college bands such as “Steepsky” and “Oak Island”. Gourav’s formal training continued at The Drama School Mumbai, a decision that sharpened his craft and prepared him for more demanding roles. His breakout performance arrived with Ramin Bahrani’s Netflix adaptation of The White Tiger (2021), in which he delivered a nuanced and compelling turn as Balram Halwai, a chauffeur whose ambition drives the narrative; the portrayal earned him nominations for the BAFTA Award for Best Actor in a Leading Role and the Independent Spirit Award for Best Male Lead, marking his arrival on the international stage. Following that success, he starred in the popular web series Hostel Daze (2019–2021) and the comic‑thriller Guns & Gulaabs, showcasing his versatility across genres. In 2023 he appeared in the coming‑of‑age film Kho Gaye Hum Kahan alongside Siddhant Chaturvedi and Ananya Panday, receiving critical praise for his impactful performance. He has also explored audio storytelling, featuring in Audible’s Desi Down Under podcast. Throughout his career, Gourav has balanced acting with a foundation in Hindustani classical music, having trained for nine years under various gurus, and remains a rising talent recognized for his depth, intensity, and growing repertoire.
