**Alana Mychal Haim** was born on *December 15, 1991* in Los Angeles, California, into a culturally rich Jewish family where music was as omnipresent as the California sun. Her father, Mordechai “Moti” Haim, an Israeli‑born former professional soccer player, drummed in a family choir, while her mother, Donna Rose, a former elementary‑school art teacher and folk‑song winner on *The Gong Show*, sang and encouraged a household where classic rock, Americana, and 1990s R&B blended seamlessly. From the age of four Alana began exploring percussion, quickly adding piano, guitar, mandolin, and drums to her repertoire under the tutelage of her parents and older sisters, Este and Danielle.
