Amber Midthunder (born April 26, 1997) is a recognized American actress. She gained prominence for her regular roles on the FX series Legion and The CW series Roswell, New Mexico. She also accumulated noted appearances on Longmire, Banshee, and Reservation Dogs. In 2022, her career received a significant boost when she starred as Naru in Prey, the fifth installment and first prequel of the Predator franchise. The daughter of two noteworthy personalities, her mother Angelique is of Thai-Chinese ancestry and is both a casting director and a stunt performer. Her father David is an actor of Hunkpapa Lakota, Sisseton Dakota, and Sahiyaiyeskabi Assiniboine descent; he met Angelique while working on the 1995 Japanese film East Meets West. Interestingly, Amber identifies as a citizen of the Fort Peck Assiniboine and Sioux Tribe. Born on the Navajo Nation in Shiprock, New Mexico, she spent much of her childhood in Santa Fe before returning to Shiprock. She developed an interest in acting at a young age, and despite initial hesitation, Midthunder made her first acting debut in 2008's Sunshine Cleaning. She moved to Los Angeles at the tender age of 17 to chase more acting opportunities. In 2022, Midthunder was awarded the Breakthrough Performance Award at the Saturn Awards and received a Critics' Choice Awards nomination for Best Actress in a Limited Series or Movie Made for Television, for her role in Prey.
