Andrzej Teodor Seweryn, known as Andrzej Seweryn, is one of the most successful Polish theatre actors who also carved a successful career in film. Born on 25 April 1946, he has appeared in over 50 films in Poland, France, and Germany, and has served as director general of the Polski Theatre in Warsaw. He gained recognition in the 1970s after appearing in several films directed by Andrzej Wajda; this collaboration resulted in a Silver Bear for Best Actor award at the 30th Berlin International Film Festival for Seweryn's role in Wajda's 1980 film Dyrygent. Seweryn continued to build his career in France, working with renowned theatre directors and performing in the Comédie Française in Paris. He has also taught at the Paris Conservatoire. Aside from theatre and film, Seweryn has received numerous accolades for his contributions to culture, including the Légion d'honneur, Ordre des Arts et des Lettres, and Ordre national du Mérite. The actor is known for his roles in Schindler's List, in which he portrayed Julian Scherner, and his portrayal of French Revolutionary leader Maximilien Robespierre in the film and mini-series La Révolution française.
