Benoît Poelvoorde

**Benoît Poelvoorde** is a distinguished Belgian actor, screenwriter, director, and producer. Born on 22 September 1964, his entrance into the world of film and entertainment began in 1983 and has spanned to the present day. Known for his unique interpretations and commitment to his craft, Poelvoorde was initially keen to become a draughtsman and also developed professionalism as a photographer. His foray into film began with his first movie, Pas de C4 pour Daniel Daniel, which he co-directed and co-wrote in 1988. His later works included writing, producing, and directing C'est arrivé près de chez vous (Man Bites Dog internationally) with Rémy Belvaux and André Bonzel. This film gained critical recognition, further propelling his career in the industry. As his career continued to blossom, Poelvoorde starred in two series on the French pay-channel Canal+ and several movies such as Les Randonneurs, Le Boulet and Podium. These roles brought him fame not just in Belgium but in France as well. In 2001, he starred in Le Vélo de Ghislain Lambert, a film revolving around one of his passions: bicycling. In 2002, he was recognized for his potential and talent when he received the Jean Gabin Prize. An actor of varied talents, Poelvoorde's impressive performance in 2008 in the movie Astérix aux Jeux olympiques won the hearts of critics and audiences alike. His roles, even the serious ones, have demonstrated his range as an actor. He also achieved recognition for his work in A Place on Earth (2013), where he received a Magritte Award for Best Actor.
