Billy Crystal, born as William Edward Crystal on March 14, 1948, is a renowned American actor, comedian, and filmmaker. Recognized for his wit and observational comedy, Crystal is renowned for his roles in stand-up, film, television, and theatre. Over his expansive career, he's acquired several accolades including six Primetime Emmy Awards, a Tony Award, and has been nominated for three Grammy Awards and three Golden Globe Awards. He was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 1991, the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor in 2007, and recently, the Kennedy Center Honors in 2023.

Crystal's rise to fame began with television roles on the ABC sitcom Soap (1977 to 1981) and as a cast member of Saturday Night Live from 1984 to 1985. He went on to star in successful films such as Running Scared (1986), When Harry Met Sally (1989), City Slickers (1991), and America's Sweethearts (2001) among others. Also, he voiced Mike Wazowski in the popular Pixar animated Monsters, Inc. franchise. Crystal hosted the Academy Awards nine times, starting in 1990 up to 2012. He made his Broadway debut in 2004 with his one-man show '700 Sundays,' earning a Tony Award for Best Special Theatrical Event, and he has since written and starred in the Broadway musical Mr. Saturday Night in 2022. He's the author of five books, including his memoir Still Foolin' Em (2013).
