What's After the Movie
Brian Huskey (born September 8, 1968 in Charlotte, North Carolina) is an American character actor, comedian, and writer known for his distinctive dead‑pan style and prolific work in television comedy. He grew up without knowing his biological father until his mid‑teens and attended Charlotte Country Day School, graduating in 1987 before earning a BA in English with a photography minor from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, where he also played bass in the band Bicycle Face. After college he moved to New York City to study photography, worked as a photographer’s assistant, and soon became a roommate of fellow comedian Rob Corddry. Huskey’s break into comedy came through the original Upright Citizens Brigade Theater, studying under the “UCB‑4” (Matt Besser, Matt Walsh, Amy Poehler, and Ian Roberts) and joining the sketch troupe The Naked Babies alongside Corddry, Seth Morris, and John Ross Bowie. He quickly became a regular on Late Night with Conan O'Brien sketches and a panelist on VH1’s Best Week Ever, expanding his television footprint with recurring roles on Childrens Hospital (as Chet and Mark Splorn), Veep, People of Earth, and voice work as Regular Sized Rudy on Bob’s Burgers. His film credits include memorable bit parts in Superbad, Step Brothers, Semi‑Pro, and Meet Dave. In addition to acting, Huskey co‑wrote and starred in the indie film A Better You (2014) with Matt Walsh, and created the surreal Adult Swim specials Mr. Neighbor’s House (2016) and its 2018 sequel. He is a frequent guest on comedy podcasts such as Comedy Bang! Bang!, Improv4Humans, and co‑hosts Bald Talk with Charlie Sanders, where he discusses the quirks of life as a balding performer. Throughout his career, Huskey’s blend of improvisational skill, writing talent, and willingness to embrace unconventional characters has made him a respected and versatile figure in modern American comedy.
