Carrie Preston is an American actress, director, and producer known for her role as Arlene Fowler in HBO's fantasy drama series, True Blood from 2008 to 2014. She is also recognized for her character Elsbeth Tascioni in CBS's legal drama The Good Wife from 2010 to 2016. Additionally, she has appeared in CBS's Person of Interest, NBC's comedy Crowded, and TNT's crime drama Claws. Her notable works in film include romantic comedies like My Best Friend's Wedding, drama To the Bone, and horror They/Them.

Preston was born to Pam and Ray Preston, and her brother is also an actor. After graduating with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of Evansville, she earned an acting diploma from Juilliard School's Drama Division.
