Catalina Sandino Moreno, born on 19 April 1981, is a prominent Colombian actress. She first gained recognition for her stellar performance in Maria Full of Grace (2004), which garnered her a nomination for the Academy Award for Best Actress and allowed her to share the Silver Bear with Charlize Theron. Since then, she has played significant roles in several films and television series such as Fast Food Nation (2006), Love in the Time of Cholera (2007), Che (2008), The Twilight Saga: Eclipse (2010), and A Most Violent Year (2014), among many others. More recent works include The Quarry, Barbarians, From, Silent Night, and Ballerina.

Born and raised in Bogotá, Colombia, Moreno took a keen interest in acting from a young age. Her breakout role in Maria Full of Grace, a Colombian film about a girl working first in a flower plantation then as a drug mule kick-started her journey in the entertainment industry.
