Charles Berling

**Charles Berling** (born 30 April 1958) is a reputed French actor, director, and screenwriter. Born in Saint-Mandé, France, Berling is the son of a navy doctor, making him part of a family deeply embedded in the cultural and intellectual fabric of the country. Furthermore, he is also the nephew of the well-known literary critic Raymond Picard. His mother, Nadia, an only child of French settlers in Morocco, was born in Meknes, Morocco, highlighting the rich multicultural background that underpins Berling's family history. When Berling was just two years old, he left Paris for Brest, and then moved to Toulon. He even spent time in Tahiti at the tender age of seven. His nomadic early years possibly instigating a deep sense of curiosity and wonder about the world, essential traits for an artist. Berling honed his acting skills at the prestigious Belgian school INSAS, located in Brussels. His career in the cinematic world started in 1981 and has been active ever since, showcasing his supernova talent in acting, his astute eye for directing, and his creative prowess in screenwriting. He is the father of the actor Émile Berling, passing the artistic legacy down the generations.
